true sparring isn't fighting but maybe it will have a mental effect on Khan so next time he won't get wobbled by a jab etc!!
If i recall people here were talking about Khan getting badly hurt by sparring Pacman

Pacquiao looks like he's still a very decent puncher at Lightweight. Watch the Diaz fight. I'd say it's a very good thing Khan feels confident after taking some big shots off him.

nothing less than you'd expect really.
he ain't gonna say he was beaten up is he.
the prescott fight was just a disaster.
it was the shocking ease of it all that stunned so much.

I'm more interested in what Prescott does next. Takes some quality going into a guy's backyard and wrecking him like that. Fighting with that kind of confidence. (Khan's chin issues aside.) Are these Prescott-Docherty rumours a load of nonsense?

I have a feeling that the 16oz gloves and headgear may well have taken the edge off the punchers
Just a guess mind.

I have no doubts against carefully picked non punchers - Amir Khan will look sensational - no one can deny that offensively Amir Khan is indeed very good!!!
Problem is - the moment anyone gets remotely aggressive who can cope with Khans speed will spark him!!
Bless his cotton socks - IMO I have a feeling Mr W arren will dump him immediately after the next mistake!!!
Another thing - my favourite subject - journalists - they do have a habit of in my opinion of course kissing Mr W arrens arse - so expect some "Khan is sensational" headlines and the hype in Khan to continue for a while yet.
Can he be like Audley and prove us all wrong ?? ;;-) ;;-)

I've heard Khan was dropped in sparring in L.A. by some 6 or 7 and 0 prospect so clearly he hasn't had a chin transplant while over there.

I caught some of that interview whilst reading
The Sun yesterday .. the interview went on to say Freddie Roach claims that Khan will beat Hatton next year also .. .

Roach is digging an even bigger hole for himself these days :(
Not sure the journalists are so taken in by Khan anymore .. the guy certainly didn`t agree with Roach, he called the quote something like outrageous
I`m sure it will give Khan alot of confidence for when he gets in the ring if he thinks he has taken big shots off the Pacman .. but what will happen when he gets hurt again by the opponent? .. most guys come back even more fragile after such a KO loss, Khans loss was not down to fatigue like those of Haye against Thompson or Benns against Watson, or even weight making difficulties like the KO loss pacman had that Roach mentioned .. Khans are down to a fragile chin

All well and good sparring with Manny, it can only be a good thing, but unless Khan develops an impenetrable defence, somewhere along the line, he is going to get clocked with a big shot - and it's going to be goodnight Vienna.
You can put a dog in a manger, but it doesn't make it a cow, to quote a famous BNP saying.

We were only ever going to hear positive info coming from this entire exercise.
In my view, that last thing Khan needed was even more confidence.

Which gym? And who was the 6-0 prospect?

Done. A poster on here knows of Freddie, so I can ask them to validate this.

The other aspect to consider is Khan’s age. Surely he’ll toughen up a little bit along the line; most boxers do don’t they?
I recall people on previous threads saying that De La Hoya etc used to get wobbled occasionally by seemingly innocuous shots early on in his career. Yes, you can’t “grow muscles on your chin” as people are fond of saying, but it’s not like Khan is now 28 and isn’t likely to toughen up further.

Its wishful thinking comparing Khan to De La Hoyas early days. Even when De La Hoya was down he recovered immediately and as i recall won via kayo.
De La Hoya could never get stretched in 54 seconds, not even if they put him in with a heavyweight.

Sparring's great, but it's very different from the real thing, as any one who posts on here will know.
Boxers can boss sparring sessions but be beaten when it really counts by the very same guys. Takaloo never missed an opportunity to tell everyone how he winded Wayne Alexander is sparring, but come the time when it really mattered.....

Well, I wasn't comparing the two. One is a legend, one isn't.
The point is that presumably De La Hoya's punch resistence improved somewhat as his career progressed. There is perhaps a possibility that Khan's will do likewise (to whatever level).

I would have thought he learnt to ride out the shots better rather than suddenly acquiring better punch resistance.
Often young fighters are competing in a weight division where they are killing themselves to make weight - as they move up, their punch resistance improves as a result.
Khan is a big lightweight, but there's no real indications he has struggled mightily at the weight, and his physique is muscular rather than gaunt.
I fear there is little or no hope for Khan, he just doesn't have good punch resistance, and he never will

Audley said he sparred with Sprott on and off for 3 years. He said Sprott didn't hurt him once in all their sparring sessions. When it came down to it. Sprott knocked him into next week.

The Wildcard obviously, the guy wasn't sure, he wasn't there for the spar but was told afterwards, supposedly it was just a flash knockdown, nothing major and the spar went on as normal afterwards. He just said it was some prospect who trains out of there who's 6 or 7 and 0. I'm only repeating what I heard and assuming it did happen does anyone expect Freddie Roach to come out and say "Yeah, Amir was knocked down in sparring". Obviously he and the rest of the camp will deny it, I'm only repeating what I was told. No need to try and "catch" me out at all.

ODLH was put down early in his career when he was campaigning at s-feather .. he fought at lightweight in the amateurs leading up to that, so was obviously starving himself to make the weight.
Even in the early days ODLH was being primed for multi weight champion .. and lets not forget he was put down by genuine world class guys at the weight - not average domestic types.
And Oscar was never jelly-legged by any of these punches, it was merely flash knockdowns .. whilst Khans have been .... :(

Also,
I`m surprised there hasn`t been more critism towards Roach being his trainer. Roach, trains boxers in a similar style to how he used to fight -primarily attacking.
This I feel is totally the wrong style for Khan, I think he went for a big name trainer with little or no consideration to what style they would try to develop, sure he gets top sparring, but as Calzaghe has shown by staying in his gym, sparring big names isn`t always needed.
