Looks like the Ingles have more stars of the future rolling off the production line. A friend of mine knows Barnes very well so I'll be following his career with interest.... sounds a really promising prospect.

I remember speaking to Brendan Ingle at the time of the Full monty 2 show in his gym at the wincobank - I remember him saying that this little kid would be a world champion one day - he was absolutely certain - that was early 8 years ago - I must find out the lads name - even spoke to the father who said he sent his lad into the local parks or neighbourhoods to fight kids older than him and paid them a fiver - actually believed what he was telling me as well!!! must ring one of the ingles to get the lads name - me must be about 16 or 17 now.

Cheers mate !!! remember watching the lad and Brendan crowing about him - even as a little lad he was one aggressive but at the sametime smart boxer - the only thing I question about lads coming through is when the shagging starts and the women try to start dictating terms - especially if they are good in the sack, that has ruined many a good boxer!!!

There is boxing on ITV 4, tonight - 29th Nov?

I remember many moons ago on GMTV - maybe around 1994-1995... they did a daily segment like "fulfil a dream wish", kind of like Jim'll fix it, and they had a lad called Liam who was about 10-11 at the time and his wish was be trained by a proffesional coach for a day (boxing, naturally) - well GMTV didn't find a proffesional coach, but used Barry McGuigan who showed him some moves.... well this kid was MIGHTY impressive on the rope,pads,speed and heavy bag. Barry did say (mainly for TV purposes I am sure) "watch this kid he is going to go far"...

His name was Liam (cannot remember his surname) but he did look the business... okay, might have got caught up with girls etc since, but wonder what happend to him.

Lol McGuigan probably tipped him to be a world champion!!

Brendan Ingle can be prone to hyperbole sometimes.

To be fair I bought that one hook line and sinker.

Anyone who knew Pele from his kickboxing days would have said the same though; his physical tools, co-ordination, flexibilty, weight of punch and dedication were enough to KO the rock solid Vitali Klitschko in a kickboxing match (via spinning hook kick to the jaw!)

The guy was a monster - just a shame he didnt have the ability to absorb punishment and spent too long in kickboxing to alter his style adequatley enough to 'western' boxing..

Khalid Shafiq and Danny Teasdale were two more that fell well short of the Ingle hype.

Was Shafiq up to the task (if he hadnt wanted to be a gangster, that is?) Big Lennox and 26 might well know..

I really do not understand how anyone can dilute or mock Bendan Ingle - year after year - time after time Brendan, John and Dominic are chunring out stars of British Boxing

Lets name some recent ones - who at least started their careers with the Ingles or joined them:

Herol Graham
Naseem Hamed
Johnny Nelson
Junior Witter
Ryan Rhodes
Esham Pickering
Jon Thaxton
Kel Brook

I could go on - I really do think its wrong to even remotely mock Brendans achievements - for me he is the greatest trainer to grace British Boxing - no other gym and no other trainer has churned out the champions like the Ingles - so if occasionally the hype machine from Sheffield occasionally get it wrong so what - you can absolutely guarantee there is a champion that will come out of that gym at some stage.

Oh no I think the world of Ingle's contributions to the sport, he hype's up his fighters beyond their station none the less, which is part of selling your fighter, granted.

I think you are looking for digs/mocking tones where there weren't any Spud.

Everyone knows what Brendan and the rest of his camp have achieved. We also all know that he is occassionally partial to a little hyperbole. So what?

Not wanting to speak for PN but I think his post was more a comment on just how good Naz was a what a hard act to eclipse he is, rather then slating Brendan for hyping his kids.

Those are my thoughts anyway.

Have any of you ever thought that a massive part of boxing is hype and the trash talking!!!

Whatever angle you look at this my own personal feelings are when you mention Brendan Ingle you should keep to the positives and there are many many of those and as such the very few negatives pale into insignificance!!!

And to keep in line with the thread - as stated before when "the stars of the future" come out of the woodwork invariably it will have something to do with Team Ingle.

Whenever I see Brendan a wry old smile comes on his face because he knows I am going to corner him and just talk about boxing - the old times and the future - one of the best chats I had was when we were waiting for a plane to go to Jersey - bless his mrs - she did not get a word in as myself and Brendan past the time away waffling about the sport.

Another one for you lot - what would you say is the capital of boxing - or which city holds control with regards churning out the stars??

Also, I am not saying Brendan does or doesn't hold grudges - but he and Naz split pretty badly and I think it is only human to slightly "belittle" the talent of someone you have fallen out with.

I remember the article about kell in boxing news where Brendan said he was better then khan and if they fought kell would beat him. Everyone laughed and said he was mad. Well maybe brendan will be proved right after all.
