......fight the winner of Froch Vs Pascal - what is he afraid of?


Never liked JT as a fighter, pampered fighting all the light middles coming through- yes he beat Hopkins ( not in my book) but he is a pampered fighter.

Froch would KO him Mid rounds...IF he beats Pacal...IF!

In all seriousness though I would want to see the winner on Saturday square off with JT.

Unless Taylor has a huge fight in the pipeline that gives him reason to side step the winner, its a disappointing stance from the Little Rock fighter.

Whats T.Diddly been up to? Well, he had the chance to fightFroch for the belt but fought Taylor for the right to fight the winner of Froch Vs Pacal! Makes no sense because now he won;t fight the winner.....unless it's Pascal? Maybe?

Terry D is a long standing Taylor fan DG so I thought he might jump to JT's defence on this one

Still, it looks like Taylor still regards himself as an elite level fighter who doesn't need to prove himself against the other top contenders at 168.

That is a shame, because Taylor v Froch (or Pascal should he win it) would make a good fight in my eyes.

I have a feeling that he has seen what Andrade nearly did to Bute and has seen that option as 'the path of least resistance'.

If that IS the case, then it is a disappointing attitude. I can't remember LaMotta, Robinson, Zale or their ilk looking for easy routes through to the top, but there you go - the game has changed.

Tayor said he wouldn't. Then as recently as last week, said that he would target Froch v Pascal winner. Taylor will be the mandatory for the WBC champ, so there shouldn't be too much to stop it happening. No money? Froch is a puncher with an actual personality, a competitor, and if he has a belt next weekend, there'll be money.

Taylor has a nice jab, can box tidily. But he got dropped by Lacy. Jermain is a "bean counter" style of fighter, who doesn't like real combat, but rather likes to pile up points repetitively; and doesn't have the assertiveness to do more than match his opponent's workrate. He looked weak from rd 5 on vs Lacy, after he got dropped by a right hand. A superfight, i.e. Calzaghe, is a bit in the clouds as Lou DiBella admitted recently.

Taylor has already been bested by Pavlik, and though he may have more energy up at 168 limit, he's not particularly strong at the weight, as he has spent most of his career vs light middleweights.

Froch has the perfect fight to get him up to world class, in Pascal. If he wins, he will likely have learned something new, and go on from strength to strength. Taylor pulls straight back, and is a sitting duck for a basic jab-right cross combination from a tall opponent.

Let's see how Froch does. After the fights, the picture is always a little bit different, sometimes drastically so.

I think with to B-Hop wins to his name, Taylor is still hope for that superfight, a loss v a relatively unknown but quality fighter like Froch would ruin that hope for good.
That is why he went after the likes of Lacy instead, but unfortunately was still unimpressive. A stoppage victory v Lacy would help sell a JC fight.
I think it's the fight Taylor still hopes for, and he is ideal JC fodder

I don't think he's ready for a superfight. He would have no chance up at light heavy. Reckon his options are limited to IBF champ Bute and WBC champ (Froch-Pascal winner).

Taylor didnt get dropped by Lacy did he? He cant have 2 of the scorecards had him 119-xxx up.

I haven't seen the Lacy/Taylor fight but it's safe to assume that Autobarn must've seen a knock-down that wasn't called by the referee. If it's not that then Taylor must've dominated the round and been hit by a flash knock-down, thus losing the round 10-9.

Looks like a definate knockdown, and a cracking shot aswell from lacy, no idea why the ref overuled it - have a look at 1:20. Although taking a look at the replay the punch doesn't even look like it connects.

Probably because you weren't around then, Robinson and Lamotta ducked Charles Burley and the black murder's row like the plague (well Lamotta fought and lost to Marshall and beat an old Holman Williams)

Don't think the punch connects, off balance, still technically a KD I think though even if the punch only hit Taylor's shoulder when he was off balance.

To be fair Taylor dominanted Lacy pretty much as thoroughly as Calzaghe and did better against a younger Hopkins

I am aware Charles Burley was widely avoided by fighters in his era PN but if Lamotta is guilty of ducking him, then so are Cerdan, Robinson and even lightheavy weight Billy Conn. That fact doesnt mean that they aren't all great fighters, however.

Some people accuse Calzaghe of ducking folk, does this mean he is not a great fighter?

Have you been living in a cave for the last 5 years? all these alphabet titles are totally worthless now a days. The reason we are seeing all these big fights (Hatton - Floyd, Calzaghe - Hopkins, etc) is because all the best fighters are finally cutting through the alphabet "mandatory challengers" bollocks and giving up their belts to make the big fights.



Frotch winning the WBC belt doesn't make him any more marketable or important in anyones eyes these days.

If anyone here thinks this is Frotch's big breakthrough fight, then they are going to be sorely disappointed

If Froch does beat Pascal and then Taylor pulls out again then I will be heavily disappointed. It would be a natural fight to make.

I don't particular rate Taylor, especially his heart.

Ouma, Spinks and a raft of little people bossed him around for long spells in their fights.

Still, i dont think it's Taylor's choice of avoiding Froch. Afterall he fought Pavlik, Hopkins, Winky etc...

No, i think it's Dibella's choice.

Basically Berto is too fresh to make big dollars, Malignaggi is over now - that just leaves Taylor as his marquee fighter. Dibella knows Froch can bang and Taylor's already shown us he can be knocked out. If Taylor loses again he will lose the small interest people have in him.

Bute is EXACTLY who he said he is targeting.

Bute is the easier option.

Doesn't anyone want to prove themselves anymore?

Taylor would expose Froch....... so i hope this fight does happen (assuming Froch gets passed Pascal).
