Alot of armchair fans would have been on the edge of their seats and now Froch will have some name recognition

However if he doent improve his defence that belt ill get removed from his waist without too kmuch fuss

The amount of flush obvious shots he took was ridicolous. No point saying he can take a shot etc etc. So could Mayorga once upon a time......

Froch - Pascal II please

brilliant fight, im actually sort of impressed with the grit pascal showed in the later rounds, i thought he would quit in the late rounds under the pressure of THE NEW WBC SUPER MIDDLEWEIGHT CHAMPION OF THE WORLD, CARL 'THE COBRA' FROCH !!! but kessler would beat him imo

I'm surprised that Pascal took so many shots i was expecting to land more but not handle Froch's shots coming back. Who was that guy that wobbled him, Omar Pittman?

Froch took so many flush it was really worrying he doesn't roll with them at all.

I see the result is in Boxrec already, now that's service.

Yeah i had Pascal as a suspect chin after the Pittman fight, but he took some great shots tonight without flinching.

Pascal showed great class. I'm a big fan of his now. I hope he does well.

'Wonderful' isn't quite the word for two guys punching shit out of each other, but it was some spectacle.

I think Calzaghe's retired now. Not 'cause he couldn't beat Froch, but because he doesn't need that level of defiance any more. If only Carl could keep his hands up and roll... Pascal almost had him with a left hook when he brought his right hand to the left of his chin on occasion. Doing that and throwing a lazy jab is a VIP invitation at world level.

Huge respect to both men. I haven't seen a better SM fight in years.

Well done, Carl. I always found him annoying until recently and I'm really happy to see him make some noise. With the WBC belt, hopefully he can get some good fights. he'll have learnt a lot from this - let's see what happens next.

Great to see Hennessy giving a commitment to staging meaningful fights - I hope FW looked at this card and revises his current approach.

Good to see, I'm so fed up of the FW and WBU show, utter farce.

Haye, Hatton and Froch - British boxing is in good hands, all of them put on a good show.

Old Dave H is probably jealous tonight. That could be a good thing for his motivation, as top fighters do tend to appear at the same time, using one another's public praise to push themselves on.

Froch can box and he can punch. He will have to switch between the 2 more seamlessly, as he does get caught with flush shots.

Great chin, very good fitness. Physically, Carl doesn't have anything to worry about.

And he CAN box brilliantly - as when he got behind that double jab, drew out Pascal's counter, stepped in and varied his shots. But he got caught loads of times, due to low left, lingering on ropes, and charging in with power shots. Very disjointed, but some spurts of real class as well.

He can box and he can fight. The WBC will have plenty of good challengers for him, and I'm sure Froch will know what he did right and what he did wrong and make adjustments.

Must have been a hard year for him. Finally getting eliminator shot, only for Inkin to pull out lamely twice etc etc. Now things can pick up. He must know what needs correcting, and it seems there's a lot to look forward to

Let's not forget, current p4per Joe Calzaghe was often taking flush rights, from good names on the way down, with better experience but not as much enthusiasm and spark in them as Pascal. Joe got by this via the matchmaking and by making his own awkwardness work.

Calzaghe and Froch are very similar. The main difference is that Joe works the range to his advantage more often, avoiding toe-to-toe exchanges unless the opponent's off-balance.

Brilliant card and main event that was nothing short of epic! If Carl Froch does nothing else in his career he will still have the legacy of producing the best supermiddleweight title bout ever.
