HOPOATE TO FIGHT FOR "WORLD" TITLE

Don't get too excited. It is only the WBF title.
Dopey Daniel Lane in the Sun Herald seems to think it is a big deal. "
World Awaits Hoppa" read the headline.
Nobody told him it stands for What a Bloody Farce.

I cant believe he will vacate the Australian Title to allow his buddy (SOLO) to win one, rather than rematch Mirovic.
I think Hoppa' putting to much stock in beating up Mirovic, by fighting Botha, Cameron & co.

Cameron would put him to sleep within 3

hounddog,
although there are better and younger opponents than mirovic the fact that botha, sam couldn't ko him and it took cameron 8 rds to ko him does prove that hoppa is heading in the right direction at least i suppose.

Hoppa's got guts, you've got to give him that. Ability is the problem

More important than the title itself; who's he fighting for it?

His people can call Johnny Glozier or Craig "Hardie" Thomson for me. I would love this fight. When is it?

Hey Chauncey! How good is Solis?

He's solid.
He does everything good, but not one thing great. His best attribute is that he takes his time and he places his shots nicely. His power was not much, but he lands alot. He's a bulldog.
My thing going in was that he was SUPPOSED to get tired, and in the 8th I started thinking, "He aint gonna get tired!"

He's the same pace the whole time.
His speed is OK, not what I was thinking.
Can't say much about his chin becasue my punch isn't much.
His boxing skills are very good. He walks you down and tries to trap you.
He punches a little wide.
I'm glad for the experience with him as I know where I stand in the World of boxing now, as Solis should make it at least to a title fight. I might end up eating my words on that one, but he seems to be headed in the right direction.

I would have to say Solis is a very good Olympic gold medalist, and Solo and Hoppa wouldn't have a chance. He'd have and easier time with them in the ring than they would have with him on the rugby field. That's not downing them, that's just saying he's far too experienced for them.
I've only seen Leapai once and wasn't overly impressed. He had a tough day, even though he won, with Moyoyo Mensah. To put it nicely and not shoot down Alex, Solis would stop Colin Wilson.
I would really have to say him and Shane would be a good fight although Shane wont hurt Solis, or outbox him, so I gotta go with Solis so long as he boxed. Shane can punch, but Solis is accurate and would probably cut Shane up.
That being said, we are talking about a Shane Cameron who will come of age after June 6 in New Zealand when he takes on David Tua at the Vector Arena!
That's a huge fight that pushes Shane to the next level should he win.

So who is Hopoate fighting for the WBF title. Seems like a bit step up if he believes he can take on Botha, Cameron and co.

i just think hoppa sees it as he's got nothing to lose by having a go, and who knows with his power he may cause an upset.

yes u ur on da money rumors dat botha is da No.1 choice since he's cum'n into retirement, hasn't fought since 2007 thats nearly 2yrs ringrust & hoppa's power can get him their if he lands them but in saying that botha is a warrior with experience except age & time is da factor.

Chauncey,
Great to read your insight into Solis, mate what is your connection with NZ will we see you in Oz soon? a few better fights here than NZ.
As far as Hoppa goes a few Aussie heavys where offered the Botha fight because Danny Williams was KOd. Obviously Hoppa was the only one that has used the offer as publicity

I love NZ and the people who live there. It truely is a wonderful place.
As far as fighting in Oz, no real offer has come through. We tried to get the Hoppa fight, as well as a fight with Mirovic and Solomon Haumono, but all them turned it down.
I would like to fight Colin Wilson or Nathan Briggs also. We can bring them to NZ and I can defend my title against them as they are originally from there.
The one fight I wish for in Oz is with Kim Heta. I know he doesn't have many fights, but he has a belt, and I love belts; although not to hold my pants up!
I was also offered the fight with Botha in Egypt, but they pushed the promotion back, and it looks like it wont happen now.
I do hope to be introduced to the Aussie crowds soon. I am a fan of Barry Michel and would love to fight on one of his promotions.
