He did look trim (without sounding too gay) at the Dawson fight recently, though. Fingers crossed.

I have always suspected that Mayweather's retirements are about as real as Ray Leonards. He wants a challenge, and couldn't see one which would make him enough money.

Mayweather v Pacquaio is a natural fight now, given their results against a common opponent.

If he wanted a challenge, he could have taken on MArgarito, Williams or Cotto, any of which would generate huge interest and a fair whak of money.

I think he kind of lost interest in the fight game.

Any return is about one thing: money. I suspect, from press reports of a while ago, that he needs some cash quick-sharp.

I think Mayweather will decline quite allot if he comes back, he will have been out the ring for 18-24months depending if and when he comes back. I personally think he looked past his prime after moving up from 140

I would rather see Mayweather fight Pacman than Hatton fighting Manny. It's a much more a 50/50 fight - could Pac catch up and stop Floyd? Or would Floyd be too elusive, and counter so effectively like Marquez did? It's a real intriging fight if it was made, and would be worth millions.

I think a fight against pacman was what mayweather was waiting for, the Cotto`s, Williams and margarito`s are too dangerous for him because of their size .. manny fits perfect, I think its a def match-up for next year ... which will pretty much piss on hattons fireworks in the process ..

None of those fights offered enough money to make it worth his while. Also, I think Williams and Margarito are maybe just too damned big......

Think Mayweather maybe beats them both too though.

Maybe so, but he remains unbeaten, and in Pacman he won't be facing a bigger guy. He beat Oscar at 154, and didn't look outgunned at all - though he was certainly respectful of Oscar's punching.

I want to see Money Mayweather fight Cotto or Margarito, preferably Cotto.

Cotto's busy until 14th June. ;;-)

Think he would be too quick for Cotto and too savvy. Cotto is great, but we saw against Margarito that he can be broken down. Margarito did it by absorbing everything Cotto could throw, Mayweather would do it by avoiding everything he could throw.

Not to sure about that one. Cotto is pretty quick as well and he can dig a bit. It`s just that Margarito has a freakish chin and bull like strength. Matyweather would have an easier time with Margarito that Cotto in my opinion. Mayweather would not hunt Cotto like Margarito did, he would not be able to break him down, he would be forced to fight him. Be a great fight.

According to some of the Mayweather family members, Floyd Mayweather Jr. is already planning to return to the ring to challenge Manny Pacquiao. Family members told Mayweather's hometown paper, the Grand Rapids Press, that Floyd Jr. advised some of them of his comeback plan moments after Pacquiao stopped Oscar De La Hoya in eight rounds in Las Vegas last Saturday night.

Janelle Mayweather, Floyd's cousin, said the fighter called her and disclosed his plans to return and and hook back up with his father, Floyd Sr. The two have not worked together since a 2001 dispute. Floyd's uncle Roger has trained him since the dispute. According to Janelle, Floyd wants to use his both his father and uncle for the fight.

"My niece said my son told her he wanted to fight Pacquiao next, and that he wants me to train him for the fight," Mayweather Sr. said to the paper.

Fatimah Mayweather, the Floyd's sister, also told the paper that he brother contacted her and said that he plans to return and plans to use the services of his father.

Leonard Ellerbe, Mayweather's adviser, did not return calls to confirm or deny the information, but Mayweather Sr. told the paper that his son called and left a message on Monday.

I hope Floyd/Pac happens because whoever wins will go down as one of the best, if not the best, of all-time for me.

I don't think they can now ever go down as the greatest of all time. Greatest of the generation yes... but, Morales outclassed Pacquiao in fight one, and Pacquiao never fought Barrera in his prime - and personally I thought the 2nd fight showed that maybe a prime Barrera would have taken him.

For Mayweather, even though he started only a small betting favourite. I think the manner of the DLH win has damaged his legacy. If DLH would have out muscled Mayweather in a come from behind KO win then he legacy would have been better, cause that what some experts anticipated. No experts anticipated DLH to be out hustling, out boxing, out speeding, Mayweather for large part of the fight. I am adamant the DLH had the fight won but for his 34 year old legs getting to him at the end. As I asked after the fight, who wins between 140 DLH in 1997, or 140 Mayweather in 2007... and most seemed to suggest the former.

I think Mayweather has eclipsed DLH in terms of achievements and deserves to be ranked above him... but, to be ahead of the likes of Ray Robinson - you've got to invisage him beating any version of DLH...and for me, AFTER the fight (not before) I cannot see him beating DLH prime for prime.

So for me, whatever Pacquiao does for now on, he shouldn't be considered much better than the 3 Mexican warriors he faced, and Mayweather should have not been outspeed by DLH.

Agreed, although I don't think Floyd was outsped as you suggest. The fight was really a tit-for-tat affair and they rarely threw combinations together. I don't recall Floyd taking more than five clean facial shots either.

Okay, maybe outsped was the wrong term - what I meant was for Mayweather to be troubled by DLH's speed. One thing Mayweather hasn't faced is a someone with the hand speed of DLH. Yes, Mayweather was still defensively brilliant in evading the shots, but DLH's speed meant that was the primary thought of Mayweather was defense, and he couldn't do enough work to win the rounds. He was really struggling to counter DLH and just thinking slip, block, slip etc. I don't know what happend in the Pacquiao fight, but DLH was quicker than Hatton vs Mayweather.

My on the night scorecard had Mayweather 3 rounds down going into the 10th and him winning the last 3 to get a draw. My revised card (on a second viewing) gave DLH a share of one of these 3 rounds (I think it was the last) for a DLH win. Even at the time I thought a draw was the best possible verdict for Mayweather.

Thats why I am pretty confident of a Pacman win. I don't think Pacman will land many clean shots either, but I also don't think Mayweather will be able to counter Manny - cause he'll just be focused on the defence.

Now for me, DLH is a true elite fighter - who I think can be brackets with the likes of Thomas Hearns and also discussed (without being scoffed) when comparing true all time greats -I think there are others from this generation also... including Mayweather and Pacman now. However, DLH will not be the GOAT and I am sure most experts, if not all, would think the likes of Robinson and Leonard would find away to beat him, even at his prime weight at his prime age. It aint the same anymore for Mayweather, and never will be.
