I think Lewis was certainly one of the top three modern heavyweights, further to that I think he could have beaten all the others.

Congratulations to Lewis. I'm glad he's in, because I never felt he received enough recognition when he was active. Like Holmes, I was pretty sure he'd be more appreciated when he was gone. I'm not sure anyone thought it was going to be this sparse behind him, mind...

I agree with Manny Steward, Lewis is in the top 6 heavyweights of all time, personally I would have him high up in that six too. Lewis deserves this and I'm glad that he is rejecting all this comeback talk, Vitali Klitschko needs to stop dreaming of Lennox and make his own footprint in heavyweight boxing history.

I was thinking about the HoF, and thinking about some of the less worthy names already in - sorry, but McGuigan (who for me deserves to be in not purely for inring achievements) was one that came to mind.

We mention Naz often, I don't think he will ever get in mainly due to his out of the ring problems. However, what about the likes of Eubank, Benn etc. They pretty much single handily kept boxing going in the UK in the Early 1990's. I do think "services to boxing from a specific country" could be a criteria the HoF should consider.

Yes, Bruno was around but was very sporadic when he would fight, Lewis was mainly fighting in the states and too small UK TV audiences.

The IBHOF is way up in NY state, I believe at least 4 hours drive from NYC. That said, I quite fancy going up for this one.

To the person who said he should have been in the day he retired, the IBHOF, like virtually all other sporting HOF has a requirement you must be retired at least 5 years.

I know it is sacrilege to say it, but I was watching Ali-Foreman again the other day (for about the 100th time), and I'd genuinely fancy LL to have beaten either of them given their performances.

Anyway, be beat everyone he could, that's enough for me.

I don't doubt that Lewis could have beat Ali and Forman as they were then, were training methods etc of the quality they are now then I think it would be difficult. I think he'd dispatch forman pretty early.

Josh - that is precisely why I try and shy away from "mythical match-ups". Bottom line, LL is an all-time great heavyweight, I question how any sane boxing historian could dispute this with any great conviction.
