The Pascal win was a good one, but this is Froch's chance to make a name for himself stateside......I think Taylor's hand speed and competent boxing skills wins a close-ish decision

The fight will really launch Froch's value and name in the US. Big bucks are coming his way if he can continue to seek out the most demanding competition and keep winning. I like Froch and Hennesseys attitude, it's more likely to satisfy the fans, something alot of promoters don't seem to care about.

If Froch can beat Taylor in the US, I think Calzaghe would finally be persuaded to fight him. It would happen in Wales probably in the Autumn.

I doubt this fight will happen. I'm sure they will negociate for a while but I doubt Dibella/Taylor want to go to England and I doubt HBO really cares about that fight. The money won't be there to get Froch to fight in America.

If they can't reach an agreement during the open negotiation period there will be a purse bid scheduled. There is no chance in hell Dibella will let that fight go to the purse bid. If they can't reach an agreement Dibella will look elsewhere. (Kessler/Bute/etc...)

There is just no way in hell Dibella and Taylor will agree to a 70-30 purse split in favor of Froch.

Even if the winning bid is 2 million dollars. Taylor would only get 600 000$ for the fight.

When was the last time Taylor fought for 600K? Not gonna happen!

Just because it's plausible doesn't make it inevitable. As for the stuff about the opponents, yes I'm inclined to agree. Hopkins fought hard for a man of any age, and Jones was a shadow of his former self. This is modern boxing....

Buncey also mentioned that he'd heard rumblings of Taylor-Kessler, so I'm not getting overexcited about Froch-Taylor being up next

It seems that you can only fight the biggest names in front of you, else you are a ducker. Taylor is going to have had 2 fights with Pavlik, a win over Jeff Lacy, and now either Froch or Kessler... no difference IMO between the two in terms of rep.

I maintain that Froch needs another World class opponent/win before he can take on one of the two biggest names in the division.

Other than a light kd, Hopkins did nothing but cry foul, foul himself and hold. He lost widely. Froch also said Lacy would KO Joe at the time that was hyped In a boxing monthly Interview which has pics of him hitting a bag and posing. He's bullshitting In hopes he can get a Calzaghe fight.

The Roy KD was a clear accidental forearm as well shown on the replay.

Calzaghe wouldn't cleanly KO Froch but he could get a TKO If the ref shows Froch mercy and stops It when Joe's overwhelming him with workrate and volume.

If a Taylor defence doesn't happen, I reckon be Robert Stieglitz might first up as a voluntary.

I think it might just be best to take the fight. Froch has been an outsider for a very long time. He just won a world title in a thrilling fight. He has that gunslinger style, and may not be around for a long time. We know he has the desire and the hunger.

I don't see Taylor as a massive obstacle. Jermain has looked like he's a bit on the way out, and is a smaller man who has moved up. Obviously, a big test. But Taylor has a similarly wild right hand to Pascal, and if Froch can draw out that right counter, step left and move in behind a long jab he can get Taylor off balance and backing up in straight lines.

I agree with Maxime that this fight will never go to purse bids. However, it is the promoter's job to protect the title (within reason) and to get the best terms for his fighter, so let's not cry fowl if Hennessy tries to negotiate.

Anyway, it's either the direct route to success and stardom or the indirect route - knocking out German mandatories, making fight by fight improvements, drawing big crowds in Notts and on terrestrial TV, and wait for a un ification to get bigger. If Froch, say, beats Stieglitz and maybe Murat, these I believe are Sauerland boys. Sauelerland has probably promoted more super middleweight title fights than anyone. Instead of getting guys ranked that don't have great chances, he may eventually bring in the heavy artillery, and a big name, Abraham.

If it led to that, there would be no complaints. Hennessy's also had 2 of his fighters beaten by Abraham and maybe we'll see that rivalry continue.

While I like Froch's chances in some big fights, Abraham would be very hard (and very exciting). If Carl ever gets KO'd due to that low/no defence, it won't be Taylor, Kessler, Bute, but Abraham.

Whilst i'm not sure Calzaghe would knock CF out, he would batter him over 12 rounds. Froch was tired after round 3 last week, Calzaghe's work rate and pressure would be too much for Froch.

Calzaghe is right, Froch has nothing to offer. He's moved onwards and upwards literally - i would actually like to see the fight happen because i know that JC's record will still be in tact. Absolutely no doubts whatsoever, but why should he ? He doesn't bering "big name status" and tehrefore money, he brings a world title Joe has vacted. There'll always be another Froch coming through but Joe's been there probably too many times.

I will, in part. I agree Calzaghe doesnt KO people anymore but he would be far too fast for Froch and would get it on points. Froch has terrible defense and would be an easy target for Calzaghe. No way would Froch KO Calzaghe even if he caught him clean. Calzaghe isnt thick by any means but he is inclined like his Father to say the odd silly thing. Although Calzaghe beat Kessler I see them as pretty even, and I cant see how Froch can beat either of them. Having got there I think Froch will have a difficult time with the divisions best. Hopkins despite his age proved he still has it by beating Pavlik the way he did. RJJ was a money fight as was Hopkins. Comming to the end of his career money and retiring undefeated are Joes priorities. Fighting Froch if he decides to do so is nowhere near as risky as when he fought Kessler and I think Calzaghe could quite well do a Lacy on Froch.

James - he may be calling him out, but there's way's to do it, and there's ways to make yourself look like a twat, in this case, Froch thinks Joe wants him. As for Joe being a boring fighter, a 100 odd punches a round from someone that takes the fight to people, doesn't hold whose speed is untouchable, both his punching speed and his reflexes, someone who has an astute boxing brain and who thinks on the spot tactically to adapt to any given situation and adversity and find a way to win, and win convincingly i wouldn't call boring.
