Dont be a fool and back Haye at the bookies, he's looking to land the lottery punch and if it does not come early he knows he's getting KTFO.

It's a refreshingly honest appraisal of the danger involved in his next fight. Although Haye does his share of the trash talking, he always takes care to properly educate the fans on the nature of the challenge ahead.

Personally, i think he's self confessing his own fears and doubts. Thats what tends to happen when someone is overly nervous about something.

Definately not the words i was wanting to hear from Haye. Like i have said before, i think he will fold against Vitali. If he was fighting somewhat nervous against Barrett, its hard to imagine him not repeating that against Vitali. If anything, it should intensify! I dont just think he'll go down from a flush shot, i think he'll go down from pretty much anything that partially lands cleanly. Harsh words i know, but we'll see!

P.S. i'm a big Haye fan, he has been a breath of fresh air to British boxing lately, but i've never been a nuthugger and always try to tell it as i see it. I really hope Haye can do it, thats the truth, but i just dont see it happening.

So, you percieve his honesty as a means of lifting pressure of expectation. That probably true as well, but I would be more concerned if it was something new.
It's the choice of opponent rather than words that is worrying me right now for the reasons you've stated above.
Vitali Klitschko is an absolute monster, well capable of ruining Haye's career in five or six rounds.

Somebody please change the title or lock this. Completely misleading. I'm a Klitschko fan but come on...

Hollow words mean nothing before a fight. Haye knows this. It's often the fighters that worry about what they say, and feel they have to appear confident, who are the ones hiding something and likely to fall apart on the night. Haye knows what he can and can't do as a fighter, and knows that the six months of talk coming up will mean fook all when it's just him and Vitali squaring off in the ring.

I think you're mad if you think this is a negative for Haye. It makes me MORE inclined to back him not less.

It's when fighters say delusional nonsense that I get worried. Consider....
Haye : "I don't think Vitali's power is all that, I'm sure I can stand up to his bombs"
THAT would leave me thinking he's a fool. This shows he knows what he's up against and will be doing all he can to avoid getting hit. Why this strategy would put you off I can't imagine ?

Haye just isnt elusive enough to avoid vitali's shots. Sooner or later, he'll reach in, he'll get tagged and it'll be Goodnight Vienna.

If anything this is realism / kiddology.

He probably wants Vitali to think he's scared of his power - and also, smart enough to realise he won't win by leading with his face.

Smart enough to know that by admiting if he hits me clean he'll probably knock me out , chances are he may just stiffen up at little trying to land the clean one ,fact is if Hatton hit him clean enough in the right spot at the right time he could knock him out. people get caught and people get ko'ed but its less likely when there stiff and looking for the big one .

Haye is smarter than people are giving him credit for, he don't think he's gonna get ko'ed otherwise he would fight someone else

I agree coneye, that Haye is very intelligent. He knows what he's up against and believes with the correct game plan, executed properly, he will become victorious. If he fights the perfect fight he might have a chance. Maybe his speed will cause Vitali huge issues?

I still see a KO victory for Vitali though. Is Haye really going to be able to take Vitali's jab away?

Haye is going to have to use movement and agility to beat Vitali, he will have to get in and out and land his own bombs quick enough to take Vitali out of his stride.

Problem is, Sanders was very quick and a murderous puncher, and he couldn't even put a dent in Vitali, can Haye possibly really hit harder than Sanders, I find it hard to believe.

Whatever happens, I wish Haye the very best of British, I think he's everything boxing should be about, taking on the biggest challenges no matter what the odds are like, and not being afraid of losing.

I've been a big critic of Haye's over the past few years, but I will be very happy to be wrong come fight night if he beats Vitali.

It's this sort of realism and honesty that's increasing Haye's following. This is boxing, no one truly knows what will happen when the bell goes and Hayes' statement relfects this. It's a possibility and Haye is doing the right thing in being aware of this.

I'd rather listen to this than the some of the loud mouths who promise the earth and deliver F-all. These guys just end up looking like d1cks!

David has proved he will always give it a good go regardless, but with the world heavyweight title on the line, Vitali will have to nail Haye to the floor.

People are saying Haye will get KO'D around 3-5 rounds, Didn't Williams last till round 8 against a younger fresher Vitali ??

Danny has always got up from multiple knockdowns, he has pretty good powers of recovery and a tonne of heart. I don't think Haye could get up that many times - danny was knocked down the first time he took flush shots from Vitali - if that happens it will be over tout-suite.

I disagree, i think Haye will go down in the fight but he has got the heart and power to get back up and put Vitali down.

I see ................ and you are basing this on what exactly - him getting mullered by Thompson - almost being knocked out by Mormeck, getting decked by Lolenga mock?

None of those guys were anywhere near as big, nor hit anywhere near as hard as Vitali, and none of them took a shot like he does. Why on earth would you suppose he could get up from being decked by Vitali, and then manage to rally and stop him. I just cannot see it.

Hayes best chance has got to either try and lay it on the big Klit early and go fro a shock early defeat, or take the fight into the latter stages where Vitali's stamina has been questionable in the past.

I think Vitali is a bit like Chavez and Tsyzu in that while not a clean one-shot KO artist, he has incredibly 'heavy hands' and hurts opponents every time he lands. Certainly the quotes from Williams suggest he's a very hurtful hitter.
This type of opponent can be even worse as it can break a fighter down, not just physically, but even more so mentally, and leave him utterly demoralised.
Having said that, have to love Haye's attitude.

Whether it took him a long time or not, he absolutely mauled Willianms from first to last - Danny must have had a cauliflower arse after that fight.

I think the analogy with Ali is a good one - Ali was considered a light puncher yet he was a murderous finisher when he had someone in trouble, and broke people's hearts with sheer volume of punching.

I've often said it, but look how far Vitali holds his hands out in front of him, very reminiscent of Ali the way the throws the jab and lead right.

No comparison between Lennox's chin and Haye's. Lewis is said to have a glass jaw by people who look purely at his two KO losses. Anyone suggesting he actually had a poor chin is talking bollocks and needs to look back at a few of his fights!

I think Haye is relying on being quick enough to see Vlad's jab coming a mile off and get in and out, and under his shots quickly enough to cause him problems. But we should know very early in the fight whether that's going to pay dividend and if it doesn't, it could be a long hurtful night for David. No way I think this can go to points with both of their suspect staminas!

Vitali's jab isn't as easy to get away from as people think. Lewis couldn't get out of the way of the straight shots he threw for a good three rounds. Haye is a bit quicker on his feet, but by no means is he nijinksy in there.

Vitali is a good boxer but I think people are going over the top with comments about his jab and accuracy. Whilst Haye is no sweet pea, when was the last time Vitali fought someone who tried to get out of the way of his punches? Johnson, Williams and Peter all walked straight into his punches, Sanders did well for a couple of rounds til being a part time boxer took it toll and Lewis' reactions and speed had all but disappeared. I don't think you can really underestimate how poor Lewis looked in that fight when compared to the one who fought Rahman in the rematch not too long before, he had grown old. So you're going back to Donald 6 years and countless injuries ago or even Byrd.

I think Vitali will win, but he is far from unbeatable as some people are making out
