I really hope he fights Dunne. It's a natural to be made and a real shame for the fans if some sort of agreement can't be reached.

As for Martinez-Munroe 2, well I see the same pattern only Munroe might win even easier as he has now matured into the role of Euro champ and apart from solid power, what else does Kiko really have to offer?

Judging by tonights performance he has nothing else. Unless Martinez can land a big bomb and knock Munroe out in the first 5 rounds(unlikely), the fight should go the same as last time.

I am stuck a little on the fence here - a part of me thinks that Kiko has to bring more to the table than his first performance were he was so one-dimensional and he let himself get countered by adding uneducated pressure, thus allowing Rendall to pick him off with nice counters. Then I think that Martinez can't possible bring more to what he brought in their first fight, and then I start wondering whether the scores might be repeated, but only this time, by a wider scale. And I then think that Rendall does look like he's capable of being knocked out, because he was wobbled slightly by Martirosyan (or John as it's easier to spell) and then he did a very little funny dance against against Trotta too. Then finally, I wonder whether Rendall avoided a big shot from Kiko because he was lucky or because he saw everything Martinez threw before Kiko even thought about throwing it. I just don't know, folks.

I would say this fight in 55/45 in favour of Munroe, and I'm only giving Munroe the edge because he's got the confidence and psychologically edge because he's beat Martinez before. Furthermore, I'm plumping for Rendall 115-114 with him being knocked down.

Well I don't think Munroe has improved drastically as champion, he hasn't faced anyone he isn't expected to beat in his defences. However, he did completely outclass Martinez last time and I am not sure what Martinez can do any differently. Only hope really for Martinez is that Munroe is a big Super Bantam - is he going to be dead at the weight soon. He looked a little vulnerable last time.

I agree, Munroe is waiting to lose that title when he comes across a decently skilled boxer.

What about Rendall Munroe V Steve Molitor for whichever alphabelt Caballero chooses to drop when he unifies?

I think Molitor would make easy work of Munroe, Munroe should test himself with the better challenges at European level before he decides to step up a huge level like that. Dunne, Martinez, Maludrottu, Monhshipour are the names I'm talking about or at least Hunter or Marsh.

At the moment Munroe is picking the lower end of European title challengers, which are miles below the guys mentioned above, who themselves are below fringe contenders, who themselves are below a guy like Molitor. It'd be way too much of a leap in class for Munroe to think.

He rematches Martinez next which is a positive(but a necessity as a mandatory), if after that he takes on 2 of the 5 other names mentioned in the first paragraph I'd be okay with him stepping up then. Or at least someone like Parodi or Bedak over guys like Matirosian and Trotta.

I dont know if yall know this but maloney has said it comes down to money. While in dublin he has finally realised that this fight has huge potential. If it was in england it wouldnt cause a big stir and probably be at a leisure centre. This should be held at the new 02 arena in dublin

I fancy he might have problems with Martinez if he ships as many shots as he did in the first nine minutes against Trotta, but fully focussed he shopuld have way too much in the tank.

I just don't see the Dunne fight though - Dunne got dumped by Kiko in less than a round and has fought precisely nobody since, yet talks it up like he's being avoided. If he were to go in with and beat, say, Hunter or Marsh, I'd give him some respect, but for the time being he remains definitiely on the outer.

Munroe does need to get his feet sorted out for the Martinez fight. In their first fight he moved side-to-side and had good head movement, but against Trotta, Bouaita and Matirosian he seemed to take a lot of shots, and we all know, Kiko can bang.

It will be an excellent and close fight yet again - absolutely brilliant they are getting it on again - fantastic fight.

Dunne's last fight was meant to be against Eduardo Garcia, a better opponent than Marsh or Hunter but the Mexican received a cut in sparring 2 weeks before the fight and had to pull out leaving Christian Faccio in his place.

Hunter was retired for the majority of Dunne's comeback, leaving a fight with him impossible. Marsh only won the British title around the same time Dunne fought Marchiano. Before that Marsh was unproven and would in no way turn down a British title shot to fight Dunne. Since that win Marsh has defended his title against a man he's beaten twice already(Rocky Dean), while Dunne had a fight scheduled against an opponent much better than Marsh which unfortunately didn't happen due to that cut Garcia got in sparring.

Who had Munroe beaten to get his European title shot ?, Marc Callaghan.......Felix Machado and Christian Faccio are way, way above Callaghan and Marchiano would even beat that version of Callaghan quite easily(no disrespect to Marc). He's done far and above what Munroe did to get his shot, and he done way more in his career before that(being a previous European champion who made a few defences).

Not to mention Dunne offers far greater financial incentive to fight him than any other European Bantamweight.
Would you consider Hunter or Marsh more reasonable challenges to Munroe right now ?, I certainly wouldn't.

The only one with claim above Dunne imo is Monshipour, and that's if Monshipour has another comeback fight soon against someone ranked in the EU rankings at least.

Maloney has a TV deal with Sky and Peters has one with RTE [Ireland's national provider ] hense contract disputes
Dunne is out for a few months because of a nasty cut to be forehead in his last fight

So basically we are all pissing in the wind

Dunne/Munroe won't happen unless Dunne is made mandatory and the fight is forced to purse bids. Two different TV companies makes it impossible for either promotor to come to an agreement, unless one relents, which will not happen I don't think.

just saw Munroe (collecting my mums bin) and i told him to go over and shut the Dunne camp up, he was telling me that the Kiko camp only agreed to come over here for the rematch if it wasn't in Nottingham, the Kiko camp thought Munroe came from Nottingham and didn't want the fight in his home town .
He was saying he would like a big fight in Leicester which i think if it happened would draw a much bigger crowd than expected, he's been parading his European belt at the Walkers stadium at half time in front of 20,000 - 25,000 and was getting a very good reception it's about time some decent boxing came back to Leicester we've had nothing since they pulled down Granby Halls.
