THE Ricky Hatton who stopped Kostya Tszyu will crush Filipino great Manny Pacquiao when they fight in May according to Aussie boxing legend Jeff Fenech.

Hatton doesn't have the punch resistance he had back when he fought Tszyu which seems to be something Fenech has not acknowledged, although I'd agree that the Hatton who fought Tszyu would have to much for the Pacquaio of today. Punch resitance will be the determining factor in my opinion. Hatton can't walk through to many Pacquiao left hands, but I don't think Pacquaio will last long with Hatton if he starts landing to the body.

Nice read though, although I wonder if Fenech still has an axe to grind over the Hussein fight and is allowing that to cloud his judgment on the fight. Either way I don't think he'll be alone in backing Hatton, but I still give a slight edge to Pacquaio.

The Hatton who fought Tszyu would get beaten up just as much as the current version of Hatton is gonna get beaten up. Hatton had his way with Tszyu, because he was allowed to maul and Tszyu didn't have the movement nor the punch output to stop it. Pacquiao is gonna to be throwing punches in bunches from lots of different angles and then moving off to the side. Hatton's whinging shots are not going to be effective against that style.

I'm sure as the fight gets closer more and more people on here will start backing Hatton, but that's just blind faith. People will be judging with their hearts and not their heads. Hatton is getting knocked out again.

Other than being a little stronger at the weight, what does Hatton do better than Pacquaio? Nothing

So you don't think Hatton has the body shot to trouble Pacquaio? Pacquaio isn't exactly a defensive wizard and there's nothing to suggest Hatton will not find Pacquaio. When has Hatton ever had trouble pinning a fighter down? I'm not saying I don't back Pacquaio in this fight, just that this idea that Hatton has no chance is a little far fetched. Pacquaio has been hurt to the body by people fighting well under 140lb and Hatton is no mug when it comes to working the body.

As far as the idea of the Tszyu version of Hatton not fairing better than the current version goes, I can't agree with that either... clearly a younger, fresher Hatton would fair better. Again, I'm not saying I'd commit to backing a Hatton win, but I just don't buy the idea that this fight is the mismatch some seem to think.

Hatton By late stoppage,
Pac is getting way to much credit for beating a fighter who would have lost to all of the top 20 Welters by KO that night.

Hatton will pressure and beat down the smaller guy.

Hatton seems to struggle with southpaws, Collazo, Magee, Urango etc. And Manny is relentless as well. I have a feeling Ricky will eat lefts all night, keep coming, but ultimately be outclassed.

If it happens I think it will be a really exciting fight to look forward to and also on the night and seeing all the haters etc get out of their prams in the build up will be sad for me because it takes the shine off what is - when one stands back and looks at it - a cracking match up between two fighters who come forward habitually.

Pacman is not all that.

Hatton can win this and Hatton is not that great.

JMM is a better than Pacman - styles makes fights.

PBF would stop Pacman.

:D

Before Hatton fought PBF many Hatton fans with blind faith thought Hatton could win. This fight with Pacman is no different, Manny like PBF is in another league and will prove far too much for Hatton. I agree Hatton has a chance with a bodyshot but landing it wont be that easy. He is also the bigger, stronger man but Pacquiao will deal with everything Hattons has to offer. Tzsyu was a great accomplishment for Hatton who fought him at the right time. Pacman and PBF are in their prime and Hatton isnt quite what he used to be. Pacman on points or late stoppage.

Vastly superior footwork, Hatton moves very well and has underrated footspeed. If Hatton boxes Pacquiao and is able to take control of the distance this evens things right up for me.

I tend to lean towards a Hatton win, I too think too much has been credited to Pacman over his ODLH win.

Hatton also would have looked great against that version of De La Hoya.

There is no doubts its a fantastic fight - absolutely brilliant.

But anyone who thinks Ricky wins this one easily is barking f*cking mad!!!

This is a case of whether Ricky can get to the Pacman - be interesting if he does!!!

To be honest I want ricky to win this one - but feel a comprehensive points victory for the Pacman is the most likely outcome.

I do like a Hatton win here, although Pacquiao is still my favourite to win this fight. I find it interesting to see how Pacquiao will deal with a fighter constantly coming forward, like Hatton will undoubtedly do. He's not a Floyd Mayweather, in that he can hit someone and then evade being hit back. He seems to like to trade, and against a completely static de la Hoya and and counter-punchering Marquez, he's been the one to dictate terms, in going forward and being the aggressor with his foot-work and power-punching. I liked Hatton's head-movement against Malignaggi too - the best I have ever seen him move his napper, so if Ricky can move forward, avoiding that fast, straight left, then he's got a good chance to land clean on Manny, whether it be to head, body, or both.

I know I will get sneered at for my post, but Hatton's the king at 140lbs, and Manny has never fought there. Also, we all know that Hatton will be strong at light welterweight, whereas Oscar was dead at 147lbs - I still feel there are questions surrounding how Manny will do when he moves up in weight. In Manny's defeats too, he's been KO'ed to the body twice - I know there were at smaller weights, when Manny was probably killing himself to make weight, but he still got KO'ed. And guess what? Ricky's forte is his left-hook to the body, so a knock-out win for Hatton can't be overruled, however unlikely it seems right now. Don't get me wrong, Pacquiao's favourite for me, but not by too much. I might be having a little tinkle at the bookies over this fight, but not too much, mind.

I think I will go for a Hatton KO after ten gruelling rounds, of which Manny dominated the vast majority of them. I just don't know how Manny will take a massive left-hook to his liver area or solar-plexus. It's going to be mighty fun finding out, though.

Only the one defeat was a body shot, the other was a clip on the chin .. both were not helped by weight making I`d imagine though.

I`m a big fan of pacman, but I just think the results in his last two fights - maybe three - have flattered him overly somewhat.
