Amirs next opponent will be a fighter well known throughout the boxing community but will either be 2 weight divisions lower than him or 5 years past their best

Possibly a former world champion from a lower weight division with an impressive statistical record but well past their best but a recognisable name to justify the PPV.
Charlie Magri is a good shout.

Really a re-match with the guy who beat him would be the honourable thing. Given that there was genuine talk of him fighting for a world belt, it seems rather crappy to have a first round knockout on your record left "unavenged."
Unless Khan can beat the man convincingly in a return bout, or unless Precott goes on to have a stellar career, its going to eb hard to take Khan seriously.
I'm not saying its going to happen, of course!

Khan will have 20 fights in the meantime before Harrison gets a lisence. Harrison will probably do something inbetween to go back in the slammer.

Get real, Whicker.
There's as much chance of a rematch as Wazza wishing Calzaghe Happy New Year.

Agreed - W arren wouldn't dare put Khan in with a dangerous opponent in my opinion until his "Olympic signings" are well on their way and
W arren can then afford to match Khan dangerously - unfortunately for boxing fans we have at least a years wait and possibly long before Khan goes in with anyone remotely dangerous.

Yeah, I can't see it happening, just that it would be the "honourable" thing to do!
I think Khan could beat Prescott, too, as long as he got his game plan right and didn't get sparked. Prescott's next fight (if it ever happens) will tell us more.
Possibly allegedly allegedly will be Khan with some comfortable bouts on the undercard- but then the undercard of what? Khan does have to fight someone of credibility soon-ish otherwise his appeal will fade a great deal.

The thing is to a boxing fan what you have stated above would normally be correct - but there are some - nope thousands who go to boxing who havn't got a f*cking clue - as long as Amir Khan is fighting and winning and as long as he is selling out venues then Mr W arren in my opinion will rub his hands together and keep the bank manager happy.
I am serious the very next viable opponent who is remotely european or finge world class will smash Khan into a oblivion and I will laugh my b*llocks off.

Also they have the Sky TV fan club to build up whatever opponent is chosen.

.
Is Khan still a big draw? I honestly don't know. This time last year he certainly was, but 2008 was a pretty forgettable year for him

Whicker,
In answer to your question mate - yes Khan is still a big draw - not just to the asian population of the UK but to many thousands of people - and I simply cannot get my head around things - one day just one day it is going to go all sour - but what will Team Khan care - its a bit like Audley Harrison - They have got their money from TV - bags and bags of it - and they have got bags and bags more from daft ****s who sponsored them well over the odds.
Who can remember Khans manager (Asif or something like that) stating something similar to " we are going to conquer the world" - can anyone remember something like that - would love to see that article again!!!

Prescott wont get a rematch until he's lost for the first time, until someone proves that he isn't the second coming of Felix Trinidad. Even then, I could still see him being dodged on the grounds that he'd lost and didn't carry the same appeal.
Khan showed some positive signs last time out but he was still taking the odd shot or two, so I doubt whoever it is, will have much of a dig. I dont think Murray, or Mitchell for that matter, would be bad choices, certainly safer choices than a Prescott rematch or a faded champ.
Wasn't Derek Gainer in the picture at one time?
