Who would you argue is the highest-profile, most talented or accomplished fighter ever to be killed in the ring?

Benny Paret immediately comes to mind. Former welterweight champ. I can't even think of another champion who died this way.

Perhaps Davey Moore, died in his dressing room tough, not in the ring.

Honestly - Paret died several days later, like Davey Moore.

Deuk Koo Kim died a few days after as well, but it received massive coverage because it happened in live network tv.

The Duek Koo Kim fight had lasting significance because it was the genesis of the reduction in rounds from 15 to 12 in world championship fights.

Ernie Schaaf had a good resumee, Loughran, Baer, Braddock, Galento, Uzcudun aren't a bad group of fighters. Experts can't say if he died from the Carnera fight or from complications suffered against Baer in 1932.

However i can't remember if he died in the ring or in the hospital after the fight.

Does "die in the ring" really mean literally die in the ring?

I really don't know of any fighters who actually died in the ring, almost all that I can think of died in the hospital some time later.
