Although never officially announced, the proposed fight between Haye and Vitali Klit. now appears to be out of the question, for now at least! According to the daily telegraph Vitali will defend against Juan Carlos Gomez next and Wladimir will now fight Haye instead. However, the speculation over on fightnews is that Wladimir is in the final stages of negotiations to fight Chris Areola in mid May. Where does all this leave Haye then, anyone have any clearer information?

Dissapointing, but maybe a godsend for Haye? One or two more tune up's before taking on either Klit should work in his favour!

Your probably right, but then the beast from the east is the most protected fighter on the planet right now and is very unlikely to be matched with the Hayemaker! Even Warren would have tested him more by this stage of his career D

Both Klits have mandatories.

If Wlad faces Arreola, and wins, then he must fight Povetkin. Obviously Povetkin is a good investment of Sauerland's and it looks like Povetkin is delaying his challenge a bit. Enough room for Arreola to get a shot perhaps, but time enough for haye?

How about, Haye takes his time, fights opponents that will ready him for a world title fight? Or don't they do things that way anymore?

Could Haye be boxing on his own late March show maybe? Sounds unlikley, but still- it is possible.

Fight Chagaev? He's got a fight next month but free after that

I think another fight with someon around Barratts level will cerment his claim as a legitimate contender, if he could get Valieuv's title or fight a former title holder like Ruiz (horrible to watch but a good challenge) or Rahman (although will probably take a step down in competition after Klitschko defeat) that would make him mor marketable. Anoter option would be to go for the European title Skelton is limited and having the belt would add that he would be bringing to the table. You know former "Undisputed Cruzer Weight Champion Commonwealth and European Heavy Weigght champion after just two fights what is Klitschko afraid of"

Whether its on or off, Haye better stay active & not just wait around for his chance to face Vitali or Wladamir. If both have mandatory obligations to fullfil, Haye needs to make sure he keeps active, by boxing in March or April.

Haye's time will come, I have no doubt of that!

Haye won't face Wladimir. He is way down the line talking to Arreola and if they are talking dates, that means that HBO have given the green light.

Valuev and Chagaev will be matched up after Chagaev's next fight so that option is out in my opinion too.

They can't all run and hide from Haye forever!!

Ideally I'd like to see Valuev get the job (if the Klits aren't playing), although it'll probably meaan travelling or how about seeing if BIG Sam Peter fancies a tough comeback fight, is Tony Thompson still fighting? or maybe Haye will fancy sparking another one of Warrens top boys........ the only certainty is that Haye will be spaking some fornicator out in the summer

This is a classic case of a stupid f**king title getting in the way of a fight that a lot of people want to see. Gomez has a lot of talent, but he's done nothing except turn into a lazy slob since moving to heavyweight. This one is on Vitali. He should dump that piece of crap in the bin where it belongs.

He should just do a Midnight Sting and take on 10 heavyweights in one night. That'll get attention.

I don't see what the rush is. The plan was always to have two fights then try to challenge Klitschko, but Haye and Booth seem to have no patience. I would do him good to have a fight against a decent heavyweight, after his last fight he will probably sell out the O2 and he will get tons of press which will all help the build-up to a fight against Vitali next September or whenever.
It would also do his promotional company the world of good to have another big show which they can give another fight to all the guys they have signed who are not good enough to headline a bill on their own yet.

Povetkin is surely waiting for Wlad also?

Could it still happen in June, if Vitali fight in March and comes away unscathed.

This is a classic case of promoters talking up a 'fight' that was never going to happen right now.

I don't agree with this at all. For all his faults I think if you scour Valuev's record he has fought more than reasonable levels of opposition and don't forget, his very early bouts were learning on the job fights because of his lack of amateur experience. There are loads of more protected heavies out there. Sosnowski, Saleem, Scott, Butler, Fields etc.

Is a fighter that has fought: Ruiz (x2), Chagaev, Liakhovich, McCline, Vidoz, Barrett, Donald, Nobles, Etienne...."the most protected fighter on the planet"?

Personally I think the WBC should order a fight between Haye and Maskaev and make it a final eliminator for the WBC, both guys are rated highly enough by the WBC. Maskaev has come sniffing again claiming he is allowed a shot, I aint so sure tho as his last fight (I cant remember who he beat on points but an American who has a win over Dominick Guinn) wasn't a final eliminator or eliminator or any kind.

That fight could be made for March or April and then Haye and Vitali can begin talks for a fight in July or August.


That is provided a Haye v Wlad/other belt holder fight is not possible.

Haye isn't active enough for my liking. Even if he faces a few guys ranked 20-30 in the World, I don't mind. I just would like him to keep active, from a fan's point of view.

But he won't. If he fights Wlad before the Summer is out I'll be very happy though.
