Pacquiao wants 65-35 purse deal vs Hatton

For a few dollars more................

http://www.inquirer.net/specialfeatures ... 113-182997

And just when it was looking like a done deal :witzend:

The article does go on to say that Pacquiao's lawyer has gone on record saying that they are now willing to accept a 60/40 split.

Its difficult to make any real judgement on who's playing the greedy one here, if either of them? All i know is that both Hatton and Pacquiao are two of the biggest draws in the sport both having massive fan bases, but when it comes down to exacts, i know not-a-lot about the figure's either man can potentially generate from tv revenues, ticket sales, PPV sales etc etc. But, if both can generate the same sort of potential turnover, then Pacquiao should take the bigger split simply because he is the sports main man right now, the rightfull p4P#1, and also because Hatton needs Pacquiao more than Pacquiao needs Hatton.

Fingers crossed they can work this out. For me, this is a fight that needs to happen. I'll be gutted if this one falls through now!

55-45 in favour of Pacman sounds good to me.

Pac Man is a legend.
60-40 is fair enough in my opinion.

no1 P4P fighter, lock for the Hall of Fame, defeated legendary Mexican warriors and held a true elite, near prime to a close SD, beat the hell out of a much bigger opponent and is never in a dull fight.

against:

Ricky Hatton. PacMan deserves the Lion's share because Ricky will still make serious money on this.

Ricky should jump at 60-40, he will make huge money and it is a winnable legacy fight

Floyd comes out off retirement he will want the lions share , Pacman has big hhas he is I don;t think he will generate the interest with anyone else that Hatton or Floyd will generate , basicly i think its a smoke screen to head off the Hatton camp before they get too greedy.

Well Pacquiao has the resume and credentials in my opinion to demand the larger share. I'm not a businessman so I don't want to pretend I know what is fair share in terms of %, but I think Pacquiao probably deserves more money.

Hatton's camp are apparently demanding a 50/50 split of everything or the fight is off!

Its looking like this one could go down the pan :witzend:

Pacman has dug his heels in previously for more money at the death. I reckon it goes ahead. There is plenty money for them and both fighters think this fight will be easier than Mayweather

Depends on what weight the fight is at, if it's at 140 where Hatton is champion then Ricky should be entitled to at least 50%

Manny's the P4P#1 at the mo and he's BIG box office, so he deserves the lion share IMO

I hope Rickys ego isn't going to get in the way of this one happening, because I'm really looking forward to it

65-35 is a bit extreme, considering the huge amount of hatton fans travelling to watch the fight live and buying the ppv. 60-40 sounds good but i cant see ricky being happy with that, he is the number 1 light welter and thats where the fight will be so...
i cant see why they dont just say 60-40 for the winner, if both think they can win it then why not... imo

Hatton should definitely make sure he gets the British ppv rights. That's a big pot of gold for him there.

Hatton might be the light welter champ. But let's not forget, the fight that made him an absolute killing, he was outboxed and beaten up by Mayweather. Mayweather fight earned Hatton some serious money, but it did not keep him in that bracket. Because the pre fight talk was good, but he didn't do that well in the fight and went down badly at the end.

Pacquiao has just demolished DLH, the one real big name in boxing. Fighters who have held wins over DLH have done well in subsequent PPV fights.

Obviously, they're negotiating, each side trying to get the best deal for their fighter. Pac has other options I'd think. This fight is a great chance for Hatton, to get a big name SMALLER THAN HIMSELF (physically), whether he gets 50 or "only" 40%

So how do the purse splits actually work then? Is the 65/35 split refering to everything generated, basically would this include British ppv revenue or would that be worked in a seperate part of the contract? I can understand if Pacquaio wants better than 50/50 split, but I don't see it if this were to include British ppv revenue since Pacquaio couldn't really get access to a British ppv audiance without Hatton. Pacquaio De La Hoya was piggybacked on an Amir Khan fight and thats as close as Pacquaio will ever get to ppv in Britain, without Hatton.

Pacman is the fighter that has consistently beat the biggest names in the sport over recent years.
Tszyu was some time ago and of course, the last time Ricky stepped up to fight at the very highest level, Mayweather did a pretty good job on him.

Pacman deserves the majority of any purse split.
60-40 seems about right to me.
Hatton has enough dough to last him a looooong time and he will make a killing even taking the smaller split against the Pacman, so surely an extra million won't matter if it really is all about legacy now?

Pacquiao isnt a huge ticket seller or a massive PPV draw

and thats what will decide the purse split

not who beat who

If you beat DLH, in a fight that obviously did well on PPV, and it normally seriously raises said fighter's profile, and earning potential dramatically. Pac deat DLH, in pretty dramatic circumstances i.e. moving up 2 weights. Not to mention absolutely obliterated the Golden One.

Would be good for Hatton to have a big fight with a naturally smaller man, given his pressure style of fighting. A very good opportunity.

In the fight that drew his biggest audience, Hatton went down like something off a slapstick comedy.

I think he's a pretty big PPV draw, no numbers to go on of course.

You need to factor in the TV rights for the phillipines as well, he's going to have pretty much every single TV set in the country tuned into him the night of his fight. He's bigger than Vanessa feltz over there.

After beating Oscar, he's just become a massive star - and I have no doubt he'll sell bundles of PPV's over in the states now.

TV right in the Philippines?

No offence, but the Philippines is dirt poor all this talk of UFC "expanding" into the Philippines is pure spin and the TV rights for this fight would be lucky to fetch $500,000

TV rights in the phillipines are worth precisely nothing though. Pac needs Hatton as much as Hatton needs Pac. Hatton won't get on US PPV any other way though.

Still, with US PPV, who is going to be the attraction -

Hatton, for looking like something off Laurel and Hardy at the end of the Mayweather fight?

Or Pac, who battering the sport's only big star, DLH, winnig a completely one sided bout, beating the big bully, etc?

Maybe Hatton nudges ahead on comedy value?
