how do i find current National r5anking for both Australia and New Zealand??

At the bottom right of this page you'll see "jump to".

Choose "record database" and then "ratings". You can then change "world" to "Australia" or "New Zealand" and change the other options as you wish.

You cannot combine them i.e. there is no "Australasia" option.

I don't know if this is the same for everyone or just a glitch, but if I'm logged-on to the forum and I want to jump to the records database I find I'm not logged-on there, and I if I want full access I need to log-on again.

It's hardly a massive issue but it seems an unnecessary irritation which I could do without.

This is happening to me too in recent weeks, not sure why?

The forum software is getting on for 20 years old and flaky as F. It is a real pain to keep it maintained, there will come a point when it will have to go. These days most people are using Twitter, Discourse etc etc

What would be the plan for the forums when it goes John? I know other sites use XenForo to host their forums, they seem pretty good, not that I know a lot about these things. It's handy that you can like/dislike posts and easily upload photos but I guess you would need to rely on advertising to a certain extent.

Boxrec should resume posting the fighters' ages and birthdates. I can't understand why Boxrec stopped doing so.

Are the editors afraid of ageism? If so, that would be absurd, because boxers are athletes, and not office workers. Ageism is factor making workplace hiring decisions. But ageism is not a factor that affects peoples' capacity to assess an athlete's situation as a competitor.

Let's face it: if fans want to analyze a boxer's capacity to win a major fight, then they need to know if the fighter is 25 or 45 years old. Biological aging is a massive determinant of an athlete's competitiveness, or lack thereof. Knowing a fighter's age is every bit as important as knowing his win-lose-draw numbers.

Only in some cases does Boxrec show the age. In most cases, data concerning age or DOB is missing. That forces fans to do Google searches in order to find the desired info.

Boxrec always shows the age in the boxer profile, if the date of birth is known.

I just did a quick check. Yes, I found the age listed in many cases. But in many other instances, there was no age or DOB. This is in contrast to the way that Boxrec's system worked in the past, when age and DOB were always listed.

On another thread, someone indicated that a law was passed in Europe mandating that information such as age and DOB can no longer be legally posted in the fighter's profile.

For which many active listed boxers there is no age on Boxrec? Give examples ... DOB cannot be published, as you know.

I was looking over your listings for events at the Cleveland Arena. Quite comprehensive but there are a few errors. The Cleveland Arena wasn't opened until November of 1937 and the final fight show there was in November of 1973. The fights listed for 1932 on the Cleveland Arena list were either at Cleveland Public Hall or the Equestrium, Taylor Bowl or even Central Armory. First Cleveland Arena Show was December 6, 1937.

There was something called the Cleveland Arena that ran five shows in 1932, it was located at the corner of Hough Avenue and Ansel Road well east of the Cleveland Arena. I have went ahead and named it Rockefeller Park Arena, to differentiate it from the more well known venue. If you know of a better, more accurate name for that venue, let me know.

Regarding the Cleveland Arena which existed from late 1937-1973 for boxing. Several fights for 1964 list Don Elbaum as promoter. Larry Atkins promoted during those times. This was verified by Plain Dealer articles from those fight cards. Don Elbaum's reign at the Cleveland Arena started with fights in 1969. The only differences was the card featuring Irish Billy Wagner and Hal TNT Carroll on November 29, 1972, which was promoted by Bruce Trampler. Don King's only fight card at the Cleveland Arena was on November 28, 1973, featuring Jeff Merritt and Ron Stander. However Don Elbaum was the matchmaker for that show.
