Freddie Mack RIP

FREDDIE MACK, the legendary boxer and DJ, passed away on Sunday 11th Jan. at the age of 76 in Lanarkshire Scotland where he has lived for many years.

During his boxing career he achieved memorable victories against Jack Bodell, Chick Calderwood and Sante Amonti.

After retiring from the ring, Freddie became a sparring partner to some of the sport’s greats including Muhammad Ali.

As an actor he appeared alongside Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor in Cleopatra and was also in the hugely popular Scottish police drama, Taggart.

Almost an early rapper, Freddie fronted several bands during the 60s and 70s. He released the hit single ‘Kung Fu Man’ as Mr. Superbad.

Using the same name Freddie became a top DJ for Scotland’s Radio Clyde, hosting the popular “Superbad’s Midnight Boogie Time”

He founded the Scots Boxing Hall of Fame in 2001

One of the nicest guys you could ever meet.

He was very famous in the 1970's as 'Superbad' the face and voice of K-Tel records.

Very good dj and a lovely man.

My thoughts are with his wifey Jan and his family.

a colourful character whom I had the pleasure of knowing and outside of his entertaining and eventfull life, he Freddie, an American Blackman founded the Scot's Boxing Hall of Fame. Freddie also trained with Floyd Paterson among others in the Catskills I believe.

a true Braveheart Freddie, a true Son of Scotland!
