Truscott loses on a cut...round 7 I think....

Yep, I had Truscott one ahead when the stoppage come. Paul's eye was swelling and was cut by a previous headbutt, but then near the end, another headbutt, a worse one, closed his eye up straight away. A great little battle though, and surely a rematch.

Round 8. It was a good scrap, Truscott was doing well early, but Simpson was really coming on. I think Truscott would have been stopped by the 10th despite the cut.

Yeah a good fight but I think the lack of power will always be Truscotts problem at the upper levels like tonight unless he can somehow change his technique to focus a little more on power maybe somewhat like Steve Molitor done but what do I know. There will be fighters who will just walk through his punches and get to him which is a shame because he is a very good boxing talent.

Terrible rule we have in this country to call it a tko in my opinion. The fairest way to settle this fight would have been to go to the scorecards.

Yes in the particular case however, I believe the judges probably had Truscott winning which would give him a TD win, that in my opinion, he did not deserves. I had Simpson up a round at stoppage, but I'm not sure how many, including the judges would agree w/ that.

When are they going to review this archaic rule and come to a fair conclusion in these cases?

I don't know of anyone who actually agrees with the rule. :o

I know it is very unfortunate, but if a fighter is unable to continue as the result of an accident then he is unable to complete the contest, so it goes to the other man.

I guess its like if you trip or fall, or are accidentally pushed in a running or cycle race and pick up an injury then you have to pull out- regardless of how much you may (or may not) have been winning by.

But all the World title fights go to the cards instead, which seems much more fair.

Can i just say, i'm Paul's father,i think the referee took the right decision, whether it was a clash of heads or not, i spoke to John Simpson in his changing room after the fight{and what a nice man he is by the way} i congratulated him,and asked him if HE thought he was winning,he said, and i quote{this is easily verified} i know i was losing EASILY,but i think i may have got him late on,our Paul said, no way was he getting me later,i was holding back a bit ,Can i just add, Paul says John is a really good lad{i can verify that} John said{again easily verified Paul is the BEST fighter he has fought, this come from his mouth, any one who knows him can ask.

Fair play mate both showed a lot of respect for each other after the fight, john said in the interview that he was 1 ahead but i take your word for it, but i do feel that john was wearing him down and was just too strong in there. anyhow a cracking wee fight your lad should be proud and a rematch would be good to settle it for good.

Great stuff mate, although i might add, giving an interview with SKY is a lot different with talking to someone in a dressing room,i'm sorry now, because its sounding like "sour grapes" but honestly, everything i said,is the truth,it is easily verified. Well done John, hes a proper gent.

Yes, very classy.

I had a little bit on Simpson to stop him between 10 and 12. I was outraged at the early stoppage. :D
