HBO's Legendary Nights...

From an action-perspective, leaving aside history & posterity, which bout profiled in this under-rated series did you find the most exciting?

The bouts re-visited by the show were...

Leonard-Hearns I, 1981
Holmes-Cooney, 1982
Pryor-Arguello I, 1982
Hagler-Hearns, 1985
Leonard-Hagler, 1987
Douglas-Tyson, 1990
Chavez-Taylor I, 1990
Bowe-Holyfield I, 1992
Holyfield-Bowe II, 1993
Foreman-Moorer, 1994
Bowe-Holyfield III, 1995
Bowe-Golota I, 1996
Trinidad-De La Hoya, 1999
Lewis-Tyson, 2002

My vote goes to Pryor-Arguello I above all others, including Hagler-Hearns :TU:

GI....you know if I was counting your vote in this case, I would consider it a "hanging chad."
though I suppose it would have to be counted.

There are many better choices in that lot.

Great series. I liked Foreman/Moorer, just because the anger and defiance in Moorer seemed genuine. Big George on the other hand, came off a little arrogant for me. A great show though.

Taylor/Chavez was pretty sad. To see Meldrick, who at the time it aired was still fighting (I think), slurring his words, and speaking slowly was heartbreaking.

Just the fight itself?

Probably Pryor-Arguello . . .followed by Bowe-Holyfield I.

Another question . . .which bout was the WORST?

Definitely a toss between Tito-Oscar and Lewis-Tyson.

Yes, just the fights, not the episodes, as I figure more people have seen the former than the latter.

Lewis-Tyson would edge out Trinidad-De La Hoya as my pick for the least entertaining bout.

As for the episodes, I thought all were well-put together --- perhaps none moreso than Ep. 7, The Tale Of Chavez-Taylor.

I'm not sure what you're getting at, Buzz, but irrespective of what you think of Pryor, surely you can't begrudge the excitement of that fight itself? It was breath-taking.

OK GI....I'll give in on that one. It was one hell of an exciting fight. But for my money there were some better ones in that series. I'd go with Hagler Hearns followed by Holyfield Bowe I and III, and Chavez Taylor...and of course for pure shock value Tyson Douglas. The world stopped that night.

 Sorry. In that case, my top 3 of that group:

1. Hagler/Hearns - An epic in just 3 rounds. Very few fights can make that claim.
2. Pryor/Arguello - Ferocious, furious, and brutal on an all time scale.
3. Chavez/Taylor - The speed of Taylor was on full display, but you just knew it was only a matter of time before the old master got home.

I think Chavez-Taylor was the most exciting...

But I never before (or since) got so caught up in the pre-fight hype as I did for Hagler-Hearns.

Bullshit. Moorer came off acting like he was still king shit and cocky as ever. Man couldnt help but bare the loss and used the "proverbial lucky shot" as an excuse ever since. He was another one who had a shit load of talent, but no damn heart or mind.
