Murray is the favourite, but I give McAllister more a shout than most. Murray looked the business against Meager, but hard to really know how faded Meager was... or even Meager's level.
McAllister is alot fresher and in the form of his career. It could be interesting.

What a _ucken diddy, all McAllister had to do was BOX and he throws away a possible decision.
A good 'Slap in the Face' from his cornermen might have smartened him up... now he falls into the pages of never been.
Stupid Lad!

Easier said than done.
Good job from Murray. Picked his shots well, stayed calm & focused, got the body shots in and - what a finish.
What more could you ask for. Hopefully he can get on ITV 1 sooner rather than later. Smashing entertainment.
Was there a good crowd there?

I don't think it's as simple as "he threw it away"
He was getting rattled by the way murray was staying on top of him and, even early on, Murray was finding some range and he was knocking McAllister off his stride.
Just cause Murray's not hitting you doesn't mean he's not pressuring you.

murray made his pressure fighting pay he just chased down mcalister and took the best he had to offer. he also worked the body well and he got a deserved win good look to murray in the future i hope he gets his fight with kahn after barrera because i think kahn will be to big for barrera but murray will giv kahn 1 hell of a fight.

Khan's not as slippery as McAllister is. He'd be more likely to stand in front of Murray and get involved in a tear up.
That said, I don't have high hopes for him against Barrera...

just back from the murray fight - think he did well tonight, hard fight against a guy who wanted to box on the move but wasnt allowed to - good fight. john would beat khan, but the thaxton fight would be a cracker

yeah true but khan does hit hard and murray does walk forward, murray could beat him but not like he fought tonight
We've never seen Khan in with a proper world-class opponent to really test that power. Even MAB may not be a good litmus test being well above his best weight and fairly shop-worn. All of Khan's wins have flattered to deceive, really. I am on one hand impresses with the choice of MAB, but it does seem a very cynical ploy to fast-track Khan past any domestic hurdles. It's pretty clear that Warren does not fancy it against Thaxton or Murray.
Anyway, I don't think Murray would fight that way against Khan - he needed to take some stick from McAllister just to get close, Amir doesn't have the sort of slickness and defensive acumen. We can't say on the basis of beating Fagan whether he's stopped backing up in straight lines, but I bet he still does and I bet Murray can trap him on the ropes. If he does, well Murray's the superior inside fighter and Khan has a jaw made of paper and wire.
Have we ever seen Murray down? I'm not sure, I haven't followed too much of his career, just five or six fights.

It was a great night of boxing, Murray did the business, Fury looked a hot prospect and Kev Buckley edged a razor thin decision against Mo Khalid...
Also Chris Goodwin beat Jon Baguley, tough fight to score but either way a decent victory!

Not sure about a razor edged decision in the Khaled fight mate, gotta feel for the kid, he won that without a doubt.
Shocker of a decision IMO.

I was impressed with Murray's strength last night - after the first round I actually text a few people to say there could be a shock in this one - I got one back from Clinton Woods who said he thought once Murray settled he would take complete charge after the 3rd round - and I hated being proved wrong!!!
I thought McCallister did exactly the opposite to what his trainer Dave Coldwell told him to do - it was obvious if McCallister boxed and moved the fight would be a lot closer than it was - but it seems McCallister wanted to get up to antics with the crowd and Murray rather than take notice of some sound advice as to what to do to win the fight!!! - I was very disaapointed in McCallisters disregard to what people were telling him !!!
With regards to John Murray - as already stated very impressed with his strength and determination and thats the first time in a long time - but I still have a concern that Murray gets hit a lot when there is no need to - If Murray worked on his defence he could be very good indeed - he has to realise he wont be able to bulldozer his way round fights when he steps up in class - if his defensive qualities improve then who knows how far he can go?

PR is a long standing Buckley cheerleader Dave - saying Kevin edged a razor thin decision is ar close to an admission of defeat as you will get!

You beautiful beautiful people!!!
From the cheap seats it looked a god awful fight with very little clean work from either, but yes, it could be argued that Kev got a bit lucky, though my final thoughts will have to wait till I get a better view of the fight(does anyone have a link??????)
Will leave it to Kev to say his piece on it this week, should be a good read!!!!

No way Murray beats Khan on that evidence. Khan would be way to quick to the punch.

im not so sure, if he lets khan hit him the way he let mcalister i dont think he could do it, i hope he could i like john murray, im hoping he goes after thaxton i think that would be a cracking fight.
I'm not sure he "let" McAllister hit him. McAllister was bloody fast, and Murray had to work his way into the fight and wear him down which he did). Murray did parry some of the shots and maybe isn't getting much credit for matching McAllister jab for jab in the mid stages.
Fights can be a bit deceiving. Khan was down and hurt by Mike Gomez, a super feather considered past it. Whereas Murray takes on an unproven, but gifted, talented and very fast kid McAllister who's campaigned at both lightweight and light welter.
The latter are the real fights, the ones that make a figthter have to show some class, the fights that develop a young fighter.
I'm glad the Murray-Khan debate goes on & I'm sure it'll rage on if Murray keeps making the progress of the last 2 fights. Don't know about anyone else, but I'd love to see him vs Alex Arthur or Kevin Mitchell. Arthur obviously a good Euro level fighter, former world champ (dubios, I know), fought a prime Gomez in a classic. Arthur has nothing to lose now, that he's left super feather behind (I think this fight is more likely if Murray wins the EBU title). Mitchell would be a cracker as well, albeit an unlikely fight (unless Mitchell starts struggling to make 130).

Got to agree with both these posters. I had high hopes for Lee, knew he had superior movement and pretty slick boxing skills. I'd heard good things about his work with Dave Coldwell and was pretty chuffed with the start he made. Then out came the old Lee McAllister, too much balls and bravado. Sometimes I think that the big support may be a disadvantage as he seems too eager to please. He could have boxed the 12 rounds and kept Murray at bay, he has the skill. Would he have won? Maybe. Its a pity ITV don't show more of the cornerwork between rounds, but it was obvious that Coldwell was getting frustrated with his charge when you did hear some exchanges.

Fear for Khan when he meets a genuine puncher
It is funny reading that Murray can't beat Khan cos Khan is fast (didn't Murray just BEAT a fast, tough fighter & won't this give him experience for future fights of this ilk?).
By those standards, Khan was hurt by Gomez - a strong, aggressive Manchester pressure fighter - so Murray will walk through him.
I think we'd see an excellent fight between Khan and Murray - surely both have qualities to trouble the other - but can't ever see it happening until it's worth a lot more money.
Murray-Thaxton would be a superb battle.

The nly thing I'd say is that Khan clearly hits harder than McAllister. That could cause Murray problems if he was getting tagged, but I still think Khan will go straight back when under pressure and get caught on the ropes.
I doubt Khan will ever fight a genuinely threatening domestic level opponent.

I guess people are judging Murrays performance on their pre-fight presumption that he`d dominate McCallister .. McCallister`s boxing skills were only second to his talking skills .. the kid is a star isn`t he
I thought Murray was a little slow to let them go early on, but after the 3rd you could see he was getting closer with every round and it would soon become painfull for McCallister .. my main concern was that Murray would pick up some facial damage before he could really put it onto McCallister.
I don`t agree Khan hits harder than McCallister .. most of Khans stoppages have been a result of piling the punches on and the ref jumping in .. didn`t Gomez say the punches didn`t really hurt him too much?
I was also impressed how Murray, Thaxton and McCallister came across in the interviews .. no bluff&bullshit and full of mutual respect
