A friend of mine thinks boxers get paid more if they win, whereas I was under the assumption they just got an agreed fee for the fight regardless of the result.

Which is correct? (Not counting prizefighter- that is I think the big exception.)

i think they just get an agreed fee.

Usually whoever is the more marketable fighter gets the bigger split.

Like, with all Del La Hoya fights, he always got the bigger fee. If someone got 5 million, he'd get 15.

I reckon they should pre determine what the purse splits will be before the fight and whoever wins gets the larger purse.

I think for the recent DLH/Pac fight, they were struggling to come to an agreement on the purse split, so they negotiated that 10% of the purse went to the winner and then the rest was balance appropriately.

The money is agreed before the fight, the result has no bearing on how much u get paid

Sometimes there is talk of 'winner takes all' fights in big grudge matches...I have never known one to actually happen though...

Yeah your right there, thats why in this game you either have to be at the very Top or the Bottom to make a decent Living...

Tony Booth got several thousand pounds for going a few rounds last year. 8)

In 'vacant' British title purse offers the winner gets a 60/40 split.

I think there should always be a financial bonus for the winner.
