A Hayemaker press conference was due to take place this morning at the Echo Arena to reveal the opponents for Hayemaker fighters on 28th March. Anybody know any details? The local websites have nothing on it. I heard rumours Hayemaker wanted a scouser topping the bill instead of Rhodes-Small. My suspicion was Dodson-Magee for the British. Anyone?

I think Dodson posts here, so he might know.

I spoke to a hayemaker chap @ the wigan show,he thinks there's a press conference on wednesday

The Stewards agreed the above mandatory defence to be promoted by David Coldwell and Adam Booth. The contest to take place at the Echo Arena, Liverpool on 28th March 2009.

I think its a good bill, these fights are likely to happen unless Small pulls out for some reason.

Everyone has to learn about these things, take the SN website for arguments sake, they are still advertising Brook/Lloyd on Jan 30th, its been Elwell for the past couple of weeks at least.

Well, there's only so much space in the local sports pages and on Merseytside these matches are rather newsworthy. This show is hardly national newpaper stuff so to get optimum coverage, which is the whole point of a PC, this is most certainly not the week.

To be honest though, I can't see how much newspaper space a bout featuring a local fighter for the British title would get anyway.

Small will fight? of course he will, although it's a bit odd that they haven't invited him to any PC, sent him any posters or even offered him any tickets to sell. I think it's Rhodes you need to worry about, him and the poison dwarf have been saying for ages that 'Small isn't on my radar' well he is now! Look out for Rhodes to vacate and defend his WBC International title instead.

STOP PRESS - I've just heard that the press conference is about to be cancelled due to "No local interest" .

So how exactly are they going to fill a large arena with guys that have never even sold a leisure centre out?

I rest my case!!

I'd think that "no local interest" really means "no press interest" which isn't surprising given the lack of press interest in boxing.

Poster "Twenty-Six" is friends with Ryan Rhodes, perhaps he could confirm-deny what you are saying?

It would be a shame if this fight didn't go ahead- it has been planned for ages, and sounds like a good one!

The press conference set for monday just gone was called off. It is now next Tuesday at the echo arena so not much details released yet.

Although Liverpool Boxing writer Nick Peet says that all he has been told by Hayemaker is that you might want to take a video camera to the press conference because something special will happen

David Haye fighting on the show against ???

On a side note, Robin Reid said he would like to fight the winner of Magee-Dodson as he has never held the British title.

Also, Liverpool have two fighters involved in the light heavyweight version of Prizefighter - Courtney Fry and Carl Dilks.
