...is the mythical 'pound-4-pound' title to blame????

The pursuit for pound for pound status leads to fighters moving up the weight divisions and clearly drugs can help fighters to bulk up. I know some will cheat regardless of this but I do wonder whether the pressure to move up in weight encourages drug taking.

On a related note, the ignorance defence used by cheats really annoys me. What kind of professional athelete with respect for his reputation would take something without knowing exactly what was in it? How does Mosley expect people to believe he used a supplement from a known supplier of illegal substances without knowing what was in it? Does he want us to believe that he didn't ask? Or that BALCO, who had no qualms about selling illegal drugs, lied to him? Do me a favour....

I think its more to do with the paydays, if your a boxer and you challenge a top champion, get a win and you can earn enough from the fight after that to set you up for life, if you lose to the champion then your next fight could be for chump change.

And i also don't believe Mosley on his drugs ignorance either.

I dunno. People quite often inject me with unknown substances.

In Dominic Negus' book he talks about taking drugs before his fight with Harrison. He is honest and admits that he knew full well what he was taking, although at the time he claimed he had been given them without his knowledge. He never boxed as a licensed pro again.
