That was an absolutely stunning performance from Sugar Shane. Never in a million years did I think he'd beat up and stop Margarito. Wow.

Glad he did that. Glad it was by stoppage as well because I wasthinking of putting money down on a Mosley points win but never a stoppage.
Would be interested to see where Margorito goes from here. Lets face it he has a basic skillset so how does he come back from this shellacking
Do the EPO revalations taint this win?

Margarito always says a fight is won in the gym. Both guys were in fatastic shape but Mosley had the skills and the game plan. Margarito only fights one way. I didn't think Mosley could fight so well. Definitely underrated him. He bullied Margarito. Used loads of clever tricks.

I stopped short of picking cause I felt my love of Mosley as a fighter was colouring my opinion, but I haven't been so overjoyed since David Haye thrashed Macca and showed him up as the pretender he always was.
But what was Bunce on about "Ricky (Hatton) says 'give me Cotto and i'll break his heart'"? The Cotto of the Margo or even Mosley fight would destroy Ricky.

Mosley looked great tonight. I thought he had half a chance of sneaking a win, but I still fancied Margarito to edge the fight, but it wasn't even close. Margarito had no answers tonight and even though his chin held up well, he looked in trouble early and didn't look like he was in any position to turn it round. Margarito is a fairly open book and its never been hard to see how to beat him, but seeing how to beat him and actually doing it are two different things.... I'm still no closer to working out who the best active 147lb fighter is after all that though.

Mosely went out there to give Margorita doubts and did.

It was like a pro against a novice as Margarito wouldn't/couldn't avoid the shots. He finally paid for throwing wide looping shots and walking into punches.
Amazing performance from Mosley but I can't stand his constant holding. Mosley won't look like this ever again. Cotto can do a repeat performance over him, hard night's work but this is Cotto's way back. He's done it before and provided he hasn't been broken by Margarito, can do it again on Mosley. If Mosley is still around, this might be the fight to get Berto where he wants to be. Maybe Berto can scrape by when he's a bit more mature.
I felt Margarito's fights with Cotto and Cintron (rematch) - where he took huge shots - indicated that he wouldn't have a long title run. But I never thought it'd be Mosley who would do it. Mosley was inspired, he seemed to use the negativity around him & channel it into one of his best performances. nd as he says, he seems to know how to fight Mexicans.

i honestly cant remember a time where i got a boxing prediction sooo wrong but fair play to mosley, his speed was sickening and literally couldnt miss with that right. Tremendous performance!
Where does that leave the 147 division now.. maybe a cotto mosley rematch sometime this year.

Like Mosley said, either him and Cotto have a rematch or Cotto and Margarito have a rematch and then Shane fights the winner. Either way, Mosley is the guy to beat now. I doubt Paul Williams will figure on the Welterweight scene any more. He was a huge drainer even before his recent fights at Middleweight and then Light Middleweight. In the Quintana rematch Williams put on over a stone overnight.

Margarito was always limited, just really tough to hurt.

Now hopefully Cotto will man up and give Shane a rematch so he gets smashed again

Wow. Mosley's shots were so sharp and so hard. His defence and reflexes were a revelation for 'old' Shane.
Respect to Shane - no-one else wanted to fight the TT - even for megabucks.
Lots of parallels to Pavlik-Hopkins. I'm not sure if this is good for the sport long term or not, but I really, really enjoyed that fight and thats what being a fan is all about.

I put the win down to Nazim. A Very under-rated trainer. Superb. God knows who's the number 1 at 147 now.
However, the exaggerations of commentators sometimes makes me laugh. To mention Moore and Robinson in the same breath make me sick.

I don't agree. I like the commentators mentioning the ATG's where appropriate, otherwise their names would disappear to all but us fanatics on boxrec and ESB. What he did age 37 to that monster deserves a reference to the great 'older' fighters, IMO

During the earlier broadcast, for the Huck and Abraham fights, one of the commentators said something I found annoying (twice). He referred to their weigh-in weights and said who was the heavier guy, but he didn't mention that was for the weigh-in, so it came across as though that's what they weighed in the ring. He made it sound like Huck's opponent was bigger than him, when it was probably the other way round.

Brilliant performance from Shane - knew he had the skills Margarito, but didn't think he had it physically at 37 and after a long career.
Shane did everything so well. His judicious use of the head to prevent Margarito getting into his groove on the inside, and his his use of the jab to keep him off balance was masterful. Mosley's power totally shocked Margarito, from the 7th on the writing was on the wall.
Shane kept Margarito on the back foot and filled him with doubt about how to fight him, an absolute masterclass.

Hatton is not in the same league and the REAL top fighters who take the REAL risks!
Shane started off as a lightweight and went up to Lt Middle giving up weight on the scales and on the night.
THATS P4P!
SSM is real P4P!
Mosley Vs Mayweather?
