What is happening with this little ginger box of tricks?

I had hoped that the upset loss to Gethin would have galvanised the Sheffield fighter into refinding his fitness and form. 4 months on and he still not boxed. With only two outings in 2008 he could be accused or resting on his laurels.

I love watching 'Fireball' Fewkes in action and I hope he isn't going to waste his career with infrequent fights and battles with the scales..

Yes, top lad is John. I heard he was training over in Ireland I think.

I hope he soon gets the momentum going again and gets back into contention.

Indeed, was in Ireland recently. Not sure if being in the land of Guinness is the cure for him 8)

If he could dedicate himself he'd get to British title contention...but what can you tell young uns these days?

Well, although I haven't spoken to him for about a month, Glyn told me the idea was for him to continue at lightweight.

John does find shifting weight terribly difficult but, strangely, he has done 9 9 quite comfortably in the past. I think it was for the Tontchev fight he pissed it.

I'd be very surprised if he were to come back as a lightweight after the Gethin episode. Totally drained going into that fight having come in heavy.

He was sick for the cancelled Murray fight and was weight anything to do with that one also?

Auto - the point is, if he does it right, he won't be either heavy or weight drained. It's a bit of a 'lifestyle' issue, I feel.

John has been working in Ireland with his dad - the money was good.

Then he went on holiday to Mexico and had eight million tacos and seventy-four crates of cerveza.

He's back in the gym now. Was offered Prizefighter lightweights but Glyn knocked it back, rightly figuring that it's completely wrong for him, style wise.

So, if and when he shifts the weight (he will be competing at lightweight; too small to make a dent at 10st), he'll be back, possibly April time.

If he doesn't get his hunger back (not literlly) then he shouldn't be in a ring again - the performance against Gethin smacked of not being arsed.

He was knackered mate. F*cked up doing the weight a few days before the fight.

Yeah, that's my point. If he's not willing to put the work in the gym then he's going absolutely nowhere.

He bends his arm magnificently when raising a pint pot to his lips suggesting he has excellent biomechanics.

It helps to develop the right hook quite nicely as well ...

Im always taking the piss out of Him. He really is a great Kid, you cant help but take to Him. Trouble is He has loads of mates, and cant say NO.

That's exactly what I've heard as well - really nice lad but lots of people want to buy him a pint
