Got my ticket for the Feb 28th show today, and there is a warning on it "People around you may stand!"

Would it kill them to have stewards telling people to sit down? I don't like standing for long period, why should I if I've bought a seat? Also it is really unfair on short people, children and elderly people etc who might struggle to see if standing up.

But no, a printed notice on the ticket just "letting us know".

When I went to Harrison v Williams 1 at the Excel we thought we had great seats til people walking back from the bars just stopped and watched right in front of us, security did nothing to move them and it was down to me, my mates and a few others around us to tell them to fornicate off. Obviously this could have caused some trouble but luckily they just moved on. Why the security just stood there and did nothing I don't know.

You always get people walking into venues who suddenly think, hold on, the view is great if I just stand here

Thank god I didn't miss any of the action from that corker of a fight/slow dance

I think this is because Security see their job as making sure people "behave," they aren't stewards so don't tend to control the crowd unless they are being violent.

These events need stewards whoes job is to tell people where their seats are, to sit down etc. I've been to boxing where people just sit anywhere, ie £30 tier seats people come and sit front row flat floor.

Is that a normal thing for concerts. Years ago I did some stewarding at Wembley Arena for concerts and the attitude was they can stand in their space but keep them out of the aisle.

Seems a bit unfair on the people who want to sit down!

I guess with boxing it kind of a hard thing to steward, cause it is instinct to stand when a fighter is hurt/floored. Although, I do think people standing before and after a fight isn't particularly nice for people who cannot stand for long and that can be stewarded.


I remember they delayed the start of Hamed vs Robinson cause the crowd were standing.

How many stewards does it take to get 5000 pissed up blokes to sit down?

They've probably had people complain after previous events that people were standing up and blocking their view, so they've printed this on tickets as a pre-emptied Fcuk Off!
