IBF/WBO/IBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko and WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko held a press conference on Wednesday in Kiev, where they shared their plans for the future. Vitali Klitschko confirmed he will fight on March 21st in Stuttgart against official challenger Juan Carlos Gomez, while Wladimir informed Fightnews.com that he will likely box against David Haye on June 20th in London at the Stamford Bridge stadium in Chelsea.


“For me it is very important and also bears an unusual component,” Vitali said. “The matter is that the daughter of my trainer Fritz Sdunek was married to Juan Carlos Gomez, and now his promoter is in a relationship with his daughter. But for me it’s not a problem, as we are professionals. I know Gomez well. We boxed together at Universum. But I am sure of a victory and I will do everything to knock him out. Then I wish to fight against WBA heavyweight champion Nikolay Valuev so that we have the four championship titles. We’ll make it!

Wladimir, meanwhilepromised to silence Haye. “He has a very big mouth, but I will make him say less, then he won’t claim that he’s better than me. Many who get into the ring with me say that they’ll knock me out, but the end result is they lose.”

Fightnews.com asked Wladimir about a propsed fight against Chris Arreola on May 16th in Los Angeles.

“The contract on the fight with David Haye is not signed yet,” he said. “If the fight with Haye breaks down, the next opponent will be Chris Arreola,” said Wladimir.

I really hope it happens.

I hate to say it, but it has to be long odds on that the fight would be at the O2.

I'm no merchandising expert, but the £ spent in the O2 complex on one of these boxing nights can be double / treble your ticket outlay. It's like an adult Butlins in there!

Surely that's part of the negotiation, and thus improves its lustre to Booth & Haye.

Plus Stamford Bridge is a dog to commute to and from, again IMHO.

From a Haye fan point of view, Wlad is the one I want to see him fight because of his weaker chin.

Actually I used the Fulham station on the way back. On the way there we had to walk through parks. I dunno where I was.
