Jesus i just watched Urango v Ngoudjo, and Teddy just goes on about what each boxer should be doing, yes Teddy in an ideal world they would be able to box just how you want them! but for once just describe whats going on in the ring, not what they are doing wrong, and stop repeating the same thing every round.
For f*cks sake i can work out that the tall guy should be boxing the shorter one!!! do i need to be told that round after round.

Feck knows why he only scored the 3rd 10/8 to Urango - that was a clear 10/7 round.

I find Atlas okay to listen to actually, no worse than plenty we've got Barry Mcguigan for instance.
Bein completely lazy here but what sort of a fight record did TA compile cos he seems a pretty respected figure in a very large country.

Main point in that fight though was that utterly disgusting 5 minute and ten second round. I'd sack the ref for a start ALL 3 judges, timekeeper ringcard girl...the effing lot of em. It wasn't embarrassing it was an utter disgrace.

Teddy Atlas is infuriating. He's an idiot. Opinionated and self-important. So full of himself.

As you say, he's always trying to tell viewers what a certain fighter is doing wrong. Lording it up like he's the Yoda of boxing. I especially dislike his intro section when he acts out what one fighter needs to do to win and then what his opponent needs to do.

Needless to say I'm unlikely to make it onto Atlas's christmas card list.

This is why I recorded the Eurosport version. Much more pleasant on the ears.

I wouldn't say my crtisism to his face, as he's a bit of a nutter.

And Teddy had a few amateur fights, but i think he retired around 19/20 years old because of a back injury, the scar was caused a a knife in a fight when he was a teenager.

I can't make a judgement on the bit about copying his work off others and that as I don't know anything about it.
To be honest when I'm up at daft o'clock in the morning and some boxing comes on it's a bit of a bonus regardless who's doing the talking.

Knowledgeable and knows his stuff but the man is a bully and an egomaniac.

He’s not just been an amateur fighter and a commentator.
His main boxing claim to fame is as a trainer.
He was involved in Cus D’Amato’s stable and had a brief spell as trainer of Mike Tyson in the amateurs.
Then as a pro trainer he gained a reputation of getting the best out of wayward talents, particularly Michael Moorer who he guided to the HW world title, beating Evander Holyfield.

His book is a great read. As for copying everybody else I would ask, so what? Everybody learns from other people.

Actually I found the book so packed full of scarcely believeable stories so as to make it less credible than it might have been. In particular, the episode where he decides to kill Donnie Lalonde strectches the imagination somewhat.

Atlas has a binary view of everything and everyone - either he loves it/you forever or you are the lowest of the low/unforgivable, depending on how he saw events at the time. The book went from being entertaining to 'you couldnt make this up' to 'ok this is getting a bit repetitive now'

Happy to be corrected on this though, it might just have been me. Paul briggs autobography, whilst just as incredible, was more fun to read for me

Briggs's had too much religion in it for my liking, as did Tapia's.

I also think he embellishes in the book a little, but a great read.
