I've just read that Hennessy is making a last-ditch effort to make this fight. I've come round to the belief that Froch needs to take this fight even if he gets an unfair share of the purse. He should think of the purse sacrifice as a membership fee, because once he beats a marquee fighter like Taylor in the US, he will join the exclusive club whose members have a queue of good fighters to choose from, and who get to dictate financial terms. That kind of clout could even tempt Calzaghe into the ring. Froch will end up languishing if this fight doesn't happen, and it needs to happen in the States.

I don't think it is dead - just on hold.

Taylor is fighting Allan Green and obviously he has to actually win that fight.

I really hope it happens. BIG fight for us British boxing fans. Should be really good to watch as well. Okay, I'll stop salivating now.

The fight's definately on (I've convinced myself )

Dependent on where this is, and the undercard, it might be worth a look. Should be a fun fight.

Perhaps Witter vs Devon Alexander will be on the undercard.

Great that Froch and Hennessy would go after this fight so aggressively. I really hope this approach pays off. Now comes the hard part, winning, and doing so away from home.

Obviously, took Calzaghe a long time to go for big fights, so if it all works out for Froch, a big thumbs up. Also, Froch has some ground to make up, because of the slow-burning career.


Is it true Froch is back on Sky Sports, that they bought out his contract with ITV or something? ITV obviously unable/unwilling to put out the money that will make the big fights. Bet they even wouldn't be willing to go abroad, should, say, a German promoter win purse buds (and the promoters in Germany put a lot of stock in their super middleweights) if a German mandatory got put forward (i.e. potentially Murat, Stieglitz).

A convincing win over a sharp, established, silky-skilled man like Taylor would alert everyone to the strapping, super-strong, no-messing-around Midlander. Right now, global fight fans know very little about Froch, and they need to know.
Taylor earned his shot with a one-sided decision over great friend and former Olympic team-mate Jeff Lacy last year. He held the undisputed world middleweight title a couple of years ago, before losing it in a shocker to Kelly Pavlik, and holds two wins over Bernard Hopkins, who went on to trounce Pavlik last October in Atlantic City. Taylor can fight, and Froch can fight. The biggest and best boxing fights lined up this year still involve British fighters.

This is going to Sky Box office isn't it? Suspicious that rumours that this fight is almost signed is all over the Sky Sports website, which is well respected for giving equal coverage to news regardless of TV rights.

This simply has to be on US TV.... Henessey do whatever you can to get this fight live in America - whether it is a 2 am start here or in the states... this needs to be on HBO.

If Froch wins, he is made then.

Froch is ok but unless he adapats his style he will be heading for a bad bad beating

I also dont recall him taking punches from anyone even close to being known as 'power' puncher. Admitttedly Taylor doent fall into that category but his right is still useful

I'm being realistic. If this doesn't come off, they will try to keep it alive for Sep/Oct so Froch would go for an easy home voluntary defence. Both De Leon and Tsypko have US form, so why not?
