Okay, heard this a few weeks ago and it seems to have gone dead now. Is there any truth in it? Be perfect for the Taylor v Froch undercard.
Anyone have an update? HSPress?

Well Mick Hennessy said they were looking for an "Kassim Ouma type of opponent" for Darren's next fight a couple of months ago. Maybe he simply meant anyone who was a bit of a name in the US and would be elligible to fight for the Commonwealth title. Darren's brother said he should be out again in March or April, but that was a few weeks ago and as you say things have gone very quiet since.

Ouma or Kofi Jantuah would be good opponents for him, or maybe Sebastian Demers.

You would think the Jantuah fight would be fairly easy to make as I believe Jantuah is now based in Europe and is struggling to get fights. Last year Dioufy often said on this forum that Barker's team was looking at Jantuah as a possible opponent. I know he destroyed Marco Antonio Rubio in 33 seconds, but that was a few years ago and I think Barker would be catching him at the right time if they fought now.

Yes I was at that fight it was on the DLH-Hopkins undercard and if I remember correctly Jantuah caught Rubio with a surprise left hook and BANG it was all over. Given his apparent durability and advanced years I think Barker could learn a lot but still beat him soundly enough.

I'd heard they were actually in talks. But that was a while ago.

Ouma would be a good choice, but I would prefer Darren to take on a natural 160lbs fighter. I think he would beat Andy Lee.
