He is Australian, i'd support him for sure.

I was a fan of Anthony the Rugby League Player, so have stuck with him into his Boxing, this guy is a super athlete, yes he has a big mouth but i don't think he is on his own there either.

if i had played Origin and won a grand final and world boxing titles i'd be mouthing off aswel. lol

why? just because you are good is not enough reason to be arrogant. Even being better than someone does not give you an instant membership to the "i'm an arrogant pudendum club". In fact the better you are the more humble you should be. Australia has never taken to Mundine. The sporting public had a much greater love/respect for Kostya than Mundine, and he was not even born here.

He deserves little support, he has made boxing a joke in Australia whilst many are trying to make it more creditable. Unlike the greats when he is long retired he will never be able to say "I was a true champion', he will never rank alonside Fenech, Kostya and now Darchinyan. leaving a legacy is something to be proud of, he will never have one unless he steps up to the mark and begins to be counted.

He has also added interest with the general public with the sport. Knowone would have heard of Danny Green if it wasnt for Mundine. He isnt a total joke, although he des fight to many bums etc etc... about his mouth- well he just talks trash like lot of other boxers do, to promote themselves to earn more money. I take it as tounge in cheek, always have. It has worked for him, as he can fight bums for decent money. Now he is laughing all the way to the bank.

he still may have gone on to be successful as a pro boxer, but if not for mundine not as many people would of heard about hes success or even him

mundine has added so much mainstream attention to the sport which is what the sport needed and even now still needs, i can understand where people who are complete and utter die-hard fans of boxing, think he is bad for the sport in oz, but they are only thinking from that perspective, the sport of boxing can not thrive and survive in australia off diehard boxing fans, because boxing is not a big enough sport here, it needs the attention and publicity that mundine brings. mundine has been great for the sport here in australia

to answer the thread starter i have been a mundine supporter for a long time, while i dont particulary like listening to him, i have always supported him in the ring and would definitely support him against sturm or any other world title he goes for

no i wouldn't...i would enjoy to see sturm put mundine to sleep quicker than ottke did it.

If he fights Geale next and wins then I would support him on the world stage.

hes got my support he fights clean and fare he showed what a true sportsman was against a dirty oppoinment in taylor i suppoes they both had to do to win but i know who id back on the world stage mundine does a lot for his community eg drug and alcohol awareness we could do a lot worse

As you should know, getting big money from boxing is attracting Tom Dick ad Harry to have interest in your fights, and its guys like them that have interest in Mundine. I dont think Mundine is that bad of a person. Everytime I go to the pub and watch him fight, everyone boos him, chucks racial taunts at him, wants to see him knocked out. I don't believe Mundine would have got this payday without Green, as it was always Green calling out Mundine for years, and Mundine chose to fight Guy Walters and the like.
If memory serve's me correctly Mundine was offered $750000 by Greens management at the time to take the fight, but instead Mundine kept importing bums and avoided Green.
IMO, Mundine waited until Green couldn't make weight anymore, and realised it would weaken Green. Mundine at the time was not admired, and his true ability had not been seen IMO, because he hadn't beaten anyone of note to date. Mundine had some Australians cheering for him after this fight, but then choose' to fight Argies,friends and the awkward Soloman, again most Australians tune out.
Mundine needed Green more than Green needed Mundine, as Green had what i and most Australians love, a pure puncher with devastating knockout power.

if only green had kept that raw aggression he had when training under fenech i believe this would be his best chance at beating mundine

the weight thing is bullshit green had been fighting at that weight his whole career

From what I read it was getting harder each fight and especially the Mundine fight for Green to make weight. And you just need to look at his weigh in pictures to tell too.

Anyway, Green may not have gotten the same level of exposure as he did to the general public without Mundine, but he would have still gotten a bit of mainstream exposure IMO particularly around the Bayer-Lucas fights.

I will support Mundine, despite his mouth, if he finally starts to fight fighters that are of his talent level - or better. Not against Sturm though, because he's done the "cheat" way to get Sturm. But after that fight, even if he fights the likes of Geale and Bika (although I wouldn't support him against them) or equivalent o/seas fighters, I'll consider supporting him.

But after Sturm if he keeps to form, he'll probably get Hussein to move up to fight him.
