Finished the lecture, very much enjoyed it. I noticed at the end they said it was your first lecture, you should definitely do more in the future, you're a natural presenter.

I was watching the history channel about a guy that could not feel pain at all. He would make money letting people hit him with a bat and did this for years. One day he offered this to a man who happened to be John L. Sullivan himself and with one whack to the back the gentleman not only felt pain but was in pain the rest of his life due to having messed up his spinal cord. That was the end of his career as a carnival act.

Thanks!

Btw, apollack, I think that you are really doing boxing a service. It's really a sad shame that people have forgotten so many legends such as these, and have disputed them and scoff at their records, saying that the modern fighters of today would have thrashed them. I dont say that much about anyone these days, but what you are doing really is a service of honor to the sport.

You might be lacking the plug-in. Go back to flaglermuseum.us and click the lecture (2009 lecture series) and then click for the plug-in. Takes a minute to download.

Rupert, that chimp Travis who went a bit crazy last week was more tech-savvy than you, mate.

:D

That's the real reason you can't get that video done for the TPS isn't it?

- It worked for me back when you first posted.

Here is Jim Corbett's account of his Sullivan meeting. Corbett is a very confident, very cocky fighter. Be interested in your feedback on the account and whether you think the 1892 Corbett could have beat the 1886 Sullivan.

Well, Corbett gets the general gist of it right, but keep in mind, he's writing in 1926 about a fight that took place in 1892.

As to what would happen if they met in 1886, who knows. Certainly Sullivan would have had a MUCH better chance to win. In my book, In the Ring With James J. Corbett, I offer readers exactly what experts and writers said of that very same question in 1892. check it out at lulu.com.
