Just been thinking about this one, with Campbell being stripped on the scales last night the WBO/IBF titles are vacant now Funeka got beat.

Barrera is number one with the WBO I seem to recall and pretty certain Khan is in the top 10, with a lot of WBO titles being fought for over here and by SN fighters presumably with a little arm twisting this could now make the KHAN/BARRERA fight for the WBO WORLD TITLE.

Would certainly spice it up for TV and Frank would have delivered on his promise to Amir and then its upto the kid to get his belt in the ring.

The more I think about it the more I think it seems plausable, perhaps it may have been in the back of some minds anways as Campbell was almost certainly moving up after this fight anyway which would have left it vacant so this may have always been for the title if all went to plan.

Possible guys?????

This would definately give both fighters far more incentive than a non title fight. Interesting scenario lets hope the WBO sanction it.

Will Khan profit from lightweight chaos?

Amir Khan-Marco Antonio Barrera were set to fight in a WBO eliminator, and this fight may well now be upgraded to vacant (perhaps interim) title status.

What do you think of this? Would it be wrong if Juan Manuel Marquez and Juan Diaz (the WBO's number two and three-ranked fighters) do not contest the title instead when they meet on February 28 - especially considering the fact that the former fighter has beaten Barrera and former WBO interim champion Joel Casamayor.

Khan vs Barrera Could Be For WBO Title

Promoter allegedly is looking to make the March 14 Marco Antonio Barrera vs Amir khan fight for the vacant WBO lightweight title.

American champion Nate Campbell was stripped of his title last weekend for failing to make the weight for a title defence against South African Ali Funeka.

Warren said: “Khan v Barrera might well become a title fight. I hope the WBO will sanction it.”
