Mark Lloyd now ok to box Brook

Ok so can someone explain this one, In January Mark Lloyd was told by the BBBoC that he couldn't box Kell Brook for the British title, because they thought he wasn't experienced enough.
Since that decision he hasn't fought, meanwhile Kell Brook has won in 2 title fights, both by KO and looked very good in doing so.
Now Lloyd has been told he can box Brook for the British title, April 24th in Wolverhampton.
So what has changed in the eyes of the Board??

It stinks a bit doesn't it.
Are these board folks a bit thick or just bent or both?? You could argue Lloyd couldn't fare much worse than Elwell in as much as getting stopped early but that doesn't answer the question of What's Changed?? Nothing it would seem.
Also , don't really want to bang on - but if M Hatton wants to box for the British so much as he supposedly does WHY NOT QUIT WHINGEING ON ABOUT GETTING OVERLOOKED ON ANOTHER WEBSITE'S PODCAST, PULL OUT THAT "IS IT A REAL WORLD TITLE" IBO FIGHT WITH TED BAMI, THE MAN WHO DIDN'T BEAT MICHAEL LOMAX IN PRIZEFIGHTER (NO DISRESPECT TO EITHER)......AND THEN GET IT ON WITH KELL, WHO HE STATES WOULDN'T DARE FIGHT THE MILKY BAR KID.
I THINK I KNOW WHY NOT.

Brook should move up to European titles soon his latest opposition have been pathetic. It is boring to watch him pound some no hoper every time. If Jennings is ready for a world title shot then Brook is more than ready for an EBU belt. :)

Rediculous.
I've lost count - is this his fight to win the Lonsdale belt outright. I think it is - rediculous.
He's going to own that coverted belt by beating illustrious names like Barrie Jones, Stewart Ellwell and Mark Lloyd. In a devision cramed with talent he has fought 1 guy in the top 10.

Lloyd is brave but he isn't hard to find with punches.
Could be another early, ugly blow out..
Yawn.

To be fair to Matthew, the only chance he is going to get a shot is if the BBBoC madate him. Do you really think FW is going to give Matthew the chance in a voluntary.

The BBBoC have a responsibility to sanction better fights, fair enough having an easy first defence, but they need to better than this.
They are also in charge of the Commonwealth fights and they have done themselves no credit in recent times

that is a good point Stu

...one I had overlooked, I was taking maybe too simplistic a view of things...The Hattons leaving Warren aside, surely Warren would rather see his man Kell in a slightly more challenging match-up, no dis to Mark Lloyd but he has neither the range of skills nor the experience of Hatton I suspect. It's not like MH went slagging him off as I understand it he just left to follow his brother. Am just fed up of of Hatton moaning on, I think if he really clamoured for a shot he'd get one, I don't think he wants it as bad as he likes to make out.

Very dissapointed.
Brook is a very talented boxer - perhaps our best hope of the younger boxers to make an impact on the world scene - although I acknowledge there is a very long way to go.
Brook needs to be in tests to ensure the correct preparation for those harder fights further along in his career.

Assuming this goes ahead, three of the four opponents Brook has faced in British title challenges have LOST when challenging for a title at English/Welsh level.
None of the guys who beat them have, as yet, been given a British title shot.

It's not down to Kell who he boxes - those decisions are not made by him but by allegedly's team.
Kell would box anyone and, as had oft been discussed, has been totally avoided by all other prospects. No point going through all that again.
However, I would be very interested to know why the Board have changed their mind. Lloyd is the worst opponent to sign to fight Kell since Kell was being matched with journeymen.

Dear oh dear, there's protecting an and building an investment and stifling a talent - decide which way this is going.
This is poor fare and no fun for the punters when they know exactly what is going to happen when main event time comes. One, two, three rounds will it last?? Why not Brook V Mutley in Wolves?
Kell needs to get hold of meaty Mick's phone number

I find it hard to understand why they're not building on that cracking McIntyre win. Yes, it may be hard to get decent opposition for him at British level, but I am I believe they could be doing a lot more to get him better fights that will help him develop, not just get cocky when knocking out bums. Lloyd is a joke of a contender on the British scene, as was Jones (who was coming of a loss to Doherty, who got beat off McIntyre, who was killed by Brook), Elwell (not even English level for me) and now Lloyd (who I rate just as highly as Elwell). I know that Lomax would love to fight Kell, but I can't see that happening, which is a shame, as his style, reach and height will teach Brook new things that will help in when he's in with better fighters, if that ever happens.

Are the BBBofC saying they made a mistake in approving Elwell after his quick defeat, and Lloyd is better than that afterall :?? :?? :??
If this is true (Lloyd has now been approved) the Board are handling this one badly. :(

Yes, well I was impressed with Matthew against Tackie. Infact in some ways more impressed than his brother that night. I just mean in terms of improvement since leaving Graham (I will hold fire on how much Ricky has improved - cause the Ngougdio vs Urango result has done Malignaggi no favours) - Yes I agree with what you say... Its time to push up or shut up now for him, either keep upping the anti in the states, or go back home and take on the best domestic fights.
However, in terms of Kell Brook and Warren - sorry I don't think Warren wants to see him in anything challenging (and he is also doing it to his other hyped Prospect, Cleverly). The reason why I am saying this, is because there is not just Hatton there- there are a stack of decent level fighters there who I am now sure (with a belt at hand) will jump at the chance. Guys like Bami, Anderson, Thompson, Lomax, Amar, Mutley, Sinclair, Jones (Francis if back and Taz) etc - all much better than Ellwell, Lloyd and a good few better than Barrie Jones.

what frank wants frank gets from the bbbc!
he got the title stripped from the champion kevin mcintyre for 2 of his guys 2 fight it out for the vacant title.
after being inactive due to injury they sanctioned mcintyre as his first defence & now he has being alowed to hand pick a couple of other guys!
after this 1 look out for brook to vacate and barry jones and T.B.A to fight it out for vacant title again

This subject has been debated over and over on another thread.
Whilst I agree the sanctioning body needs to take a close look at themselves, a fighter can only fight if someone is prepared to put their head through the ropes and come out and fight.
It is obviously up to the individual to decide, but it is old news that Brook has been avoided by the top 10 for ages now - not just since he got the belt.
Three catagories - 1/ Take the fight, then drop out with a mystery injury. 2/ Shout from the rooftops he's avoiding me, when in truth they've said yes to the fight, but demanded figures to do so that can only be described as extortion. 3/ Turned it down flat.
What does that leave ? You cannot criticise a young fighter for stating openly he wants to win the Lonsdale belt outright.
To achieve that, he has to win the title then face his mandatories ordered by the board, and voluntaries sanctioned by the board.
Steve 689 you mention Meaty Mick.
I might be wrong here, but wasn't he Witter's Promotor when he was given the British belt without even facing an opponent ?
Jesus that makes me sound like I'm defending Wazza.
Like was said on the other thread, go through the ranked fighters.
Cross out the fighters who cannot fight Brook due to prior engagerments, better titles, injuries etc.
Then cross out those who don't want to face him.
Doesn't leave a lot.

No, you're not wrong. But that was because it was deemed there was no one good enough over a really lengthy spell to step through the ropes with him and they wanted to move things on.
It's an interesting debate.

It is a bit silly that Brook is bottom feeding as champion when there are far better fights out there for him. But as suggested by twenty-six, there probably more to it than Brook/his team ducking a challenge. I'd like to know why Mark Thompson, Matthew Hatton, Young Mutley or even Adnan Amar weren't considered. Craig Watson and O'Donell are fighting each other so that's them out. A fight between Brook and the winner needs to happen though. Would well be worth the British title and would add the commonwealth as well.

Witter was so far ahead of the pack back then, that a decison was made.
Brook isn't that much better than a fair few of the contenders out there.
