Muriqi lost to Tarver on a split.Woods lost just about every round to Tarver,Then Woods beats Muriqi pretty easy(does a better job than Tarver) just goes to show no two fights or fighters are the same

I think that simplifies matters a bit too much Southpaw.
It's pretty much agreed now that things weren't right in the Woods camp, from a good 6-8 weeks before the Tarver fight.
If the preps not right, the training and sparring's just not worked, it's a recipe for disaster against a seasoned pro like Tarver.
I hope Clinton gets the chance to redeem himself against Tarver.

It's nothing new.

It's like Ali would always beat Foreman, Foreman would always smash Frazier yet Frazier would always give Ali hell.

A more recent one is Cotto-Margarito-Mosley

It's not just about styles though. Motivation, I think, is a huge factor in this. Tarver wasn't motivated for Muriqi, whereas Woods was. Then, of course, you also have the fact that Woods had an 'off night' against Tarver, which I believe it was.

Also directly related, Tarver struggled with Muriqi but then easily blew away Danny Santiago who in turn blew away Muriqi, flooring him three times. As Hagler said, styles make fights. That why you gotta love boxing - no matter how much you think you know, you never can be quite sure what will happen!

Santiago is awful now. 2004 was a while ago.

Tarver wasn't motivated for that 1, Woods simply got schooled by Tarver and Jones, he doesn't have an answer for speedy slicksters and he isn't going to find 1 at his age. Hence I don't want to see him in with Dawson, Tarver etc, hes just going to take a pasting and maybe a bad 1 against Bad Chad, put him in with some brawler who he can pick apart and he'll do well.

He may have a shot against the Diacano-Branco winner (which should be Diacano), if he can get that fight, then there's Garay, another hard fight but perhaps winnable.

True he has declined somewhat -Muriqi would beat him now. But you get my point.

Woods seemed to have no desire against Tarver at all, he could of outworked him and kept going forward but he let Tarver school him!

Worse was he allowed Tarver to back up his "your a handpicked opponent" and "look how pretty I am" talk.

Clinton would never beat Tarver unless Traver was shot,he will always find it hard against someone like that Jones and Starie prove that also,but stand there with Woods and he could beat anybody at the weight

Personally if Clinton were to fight Tarver again - it would at least be a lot closer fight - things were not right in the 1st fight - that was plain for everyone to see.
