Bresdis Prescott shocker!

By Jason Kotar at ringside

Undefeated WBO #7 lightweight contender Breidis Prescott (21-0, 18 KOs) won by DQ after being bit on the shoulder in round ten by Humberto Toledo (34-6-2, 20 KOs) on Friday night at the University Center Arena on the Nova Southeastern Campus in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Prescott was credited with a knockdown in round seven and appeared on his way to an easy decision until Toledo gnawed on his left shoulder at 1:58 of the tenth. Prescott is best known for knocking out highly touted Amir Kahn in 54 seconds last year.

How does this make Khan look not that this guy lasted into the 10th?

:D

From what I've heard, this Toledo fella spent the entire fight holding or running away whereas Khan ran straight into him.

hey banjo, i read the same thing and that Prescott looked quite good winning every round. Toledo went at Prescott in the first and was hurt and then went into survival mode.
Sounds like a Tyson moment :D

Sounds like Prescott needs to step up in class and see if he can deliver against better quality opponents.

I saw this fgiht last night, Prentis won every round. Toledo wasn't on the back foot the whole fight at all and took it to Prentis a bit. Only one winner though. Pretnis threw lots of hard shots, although one at a time and didn't land many combinations. Almost had Toledo out in the eigth but the bell came to the rescue.

He landed flush on Toledo loads of times and he took them well. Either Toeldo has a chin like Hagler or this is further evidence of the lack of Khans ability to take a hard punch.

give the man a break it was his first fight for a while.[/quote]
Who Prescott ??

Sooner or later he will need to step up in class and see if he can have the same effect on opponents that have more ring craft, guille and experince. Just knocking guts over wont teach him very much and may give him a false sense of what he can achive.

That's all i'm saying,

Have a Kit-Kat, have a break :)

Lamont Peterson had Toledo out cold in a round just over a year ago .. and Humberto Soto stopped him in 3 a few months before that.

Lets not forget Toledo is a career s-feather ...

Dirty Bastard.

I want to see more of Prescott. All i've seen so far is the Khan KO. Has anybody seen any of his other fights?

Hey funny situation here, Khan gets KTFO by Prescott, Khan gets to fight Barrera, Prescott only gets to fight a punk...

Horrible stuff. Have to agree though that it doesn't paint a great picture of Khans chin.

Very true....

And it just proves that it's all about your connections to managers and promotions, the hype that surrounds you and the financial clout that you can deliver. As you say, what has Khan done to deserve a fight with Barrera, where as the guy who sparked him out cold, is still figting turkeys.....

But then again, maybe Prescott's camp would'nt want a Barrera fight right now, because while it's a high profile fight for Khan, it's also a very risky one, despite Barrera being a faded version of old

Yep. If I recall correctly, the rumour was that Warren had options on Prescott but sold him on to Arena Boxpromotion. Though more recently, it seems as though Arena have had Prescott signed since before the Khan fight.

Hardly a surprise that some guy lasted a few rounds with Prescott, the Khan fight flattered to deceive. Prescott hits hard but Khan walked forward with a sign pointed at his chin reading, "HIT HERE" and lets be honest, Khan has an awful chin for a supposed prospect. I am new here but over at my former home of Doghouse had long said his chin was clay, going back to before the Limond fight.

When you look at the records of a guys opponents and they have one common thread (serious low KO percentages), you can bet your house there is a damn good reason why that is.

khan leaves himself open way too much when he attacks, he just throws punches without much care of what can come back, and prescott was an unknown quantity that could bang and took advantage of amir's very poor defense. i think if khan boxed prescott again i think you would see a more active khan, not in the punching department, but in the moving department, he'll probably use his amateur style of stick and move, we know he can do that for twelve rounds if needed to, we just don't know if he's good enough to do it for the whole twelve rounds without getting caught, and then if he does get caught, how will he handle it?

i tell you what it's a fight i want to see.

This just underlines the fact that for all his hype Khan has no chin whatsoever.

This lad took Prescotts shots for 10 rds, and prior to that Richard Abril boxed him well & took some whacks without moving.

MAB is gonna ice Amir Khan.
