Do you know why this fight took place in jersey? seems a low key venue for a title eliminator.

lovely bit of boxing that. Nice to just see two quality fighters in a ring, not decked out with adverts and lit up like a Christmas tree. It was more entertaining for me than the write ups would have had me believe, glad I watched, and definitely no fancy dan stuff :TU:

lol though a fellow Yorkshireman as ref in an eliminator haha. Not that am suggesting anything untoward, he even warned Woods corner for coaching - I thought that was allowed.

Why wasn't this shown live last week? Surely ITV4 could off dropped the 100 showing of Carlito's Way.

Yeah good on Woods even though I've always felt he falls short at the very highest level. He's a honest grafter and has achieved to his potential which is hard to criticize.

Woods is a solid very strong fighter. His confidence does look like it could topple at any time though, and his pace wasn't great. But he seems able to just outlast these strong light heavyweights like Muriqi. The question, can he deal with anything different? i.e a fast southpaw like Dawson? I think not, not now, even if I'd like to see him do well. How about a final, final, final IBF elim v Tavoris Cloud? Obviosuly a risk that Woods may well not want to take. But from a spectator POV it's better seeing him fight a power puncher like Cloud, than seeing him get badly outboxe,d and looking thoroughly dejected as he will, vs Dawson. Clinton's had a good little career but I really don't want to see a repeat of the Tarver fight, no sir.

Hey John Rawling - I know you visit these forums - hang your head in shame!! - and yes I will tell you to your face when I see you !!!

My comments and criticisms are made due to listening to in my opinion your b*llocks during the Matt Seawright and Leonard Lothian fight.

I thought your commentary was the worst I have ever heard - you were negative throughout, and, whilst that second fight was b*llocks if it were on another promoters show I have no doubts you would have done your normal positive spin - or should I say arse kissing that in my opinion has come from you in the past - You in my opinion added to ensuring casual fans never visit ITV 4 again to watch boxing - you sold boxing completely short with your commentary - yeah make your point but you ensured you laboured on it - if you want to argue you were commentating as you saw it - then why don't you remain consistent and do as such on other promoters shows that you commentate on??

In addition the Editor or whoever was given the responsibility of putting the programme together also needs to get the sack along with you Rawling!!! - why put that fight on?? - Joe Efildh and Jamie McDonnell were in far more entertaining fights - even if you showed edited highlights of the undercard it would have been a lot better than the sh*t commentary I had to listen to.

Rawling in the past I have championed you on these forums - so now take your fair and to the point criticism firmly on the chin.

In my opinion - ITV 4 have done a sh*t job showcasing that Fight Academy show - I know for a fact you could have used other interviews etc etc that were filmed and made the show far more entertaining!!!

I am furious - I do not expect for one single minute you give a sh*t Mr Rawling - but you and your ITV chaps in my opinion have not only sold Fight Academy short - but more importantly you have with your negative b*llocks sold boxing short just when it needs to get more fans watching it on the tv.

Hang your heads in shame

I agree AB.

I know you got your goat up (in your VM days) about my calling him a limited 'Sheffield lad' when I thought he lost to Johnson but sometimes you call it the way you see it. I wish him all the best and hope he earns at this tail end of what I think is an accomplished career given his talents.

Hey mate there is no problems in you stating your opinion and calling as you state the way you see things. Clinton will always have his critics and he is not one of those fighters who will set the world alight - but he is a good, honest hardworking professional who has waded through the sh*t boxing politics and has won a world title - an achievement many gave him no chance of achieving.

Steve,

I agree - please see my comments above - however I think ITV 4 should hang their heads and as for Rawling and McKenzie - I truly thought they took the p*ss!!!

There were two other fights on the undercard and what is more they were Fight Academy fighters - Jamie McDonnell and Joe Efildh. Seawright and Lothian were not Fight Academy fighters.

The Camera crew were from Jersey and there was also a guy called Dave who gained some excellent interviews and footage which ITv 4 could have used and made that show a lot more entertaining than what they did.

I am in particular very dissapointed with John Rawling - I thought he was sh*t and thought his commentary sounded as if he were merely going through the motions and in addition any chance he had to criticise he did - I normally would have no problems with that - but Rawling wouldn't in my humble opinion be so critical if it were on another promoters show!!!

I sincerely hope Setanta do not use Rawling again and ITV have the sense not to renew his contract.

Yes sorry I only skimmed over the previous comments. I thought Duke was actually quite amusing through the undercard debacle but if that was the best of it then how bad were the other bouts!

I will state again Jamie McDonnell and Joe Efildh were in better fights - whilst they were not spectacular fights they were certainly better ones than the Seawright and Lothian fight.

I think Clinton has to go down as one of the many moody Yorkshire fighters who don't fully believe in themselves. It is getting frustrating watching him as it's like you know he can do more. He had Tarver bent double with a body shot and wouldn't apply himself, wouldn't close in - does my head in, that. But definitely, he's won a title, he's had some good fights, he's been successful. It was a fine run, from Hoye, Gonzalez 1, Delisle 2, Johnson 3, Gonzalez 2. Just very sad that he flopped in front of the Americans.

I wonder what was wrong with him in the build up to the Tarver fight. I thought Tarver's bitter ex trainer had joined Woods' training camp and was giivng away free secrets. I wonder if the guy was having him on or something.

it doesnt seem to be on the sky guide

its on the itv website that its on tomorrow and also on the tv guide on their website. unless they dont know their own schedule. it propably would not be the first time. its says its on from 12.40 pm until 2.10 pm on itv 4.

just checked the radio times website and its listed on that as well. also says its on the sky website guide. thats 3 sites that says its on. unless itv gave sky the wrong information. hope for the best.

i think this fight was confirmed late for tv and maybe itv never got onto sky to change the epg. hopefully thats the case.

i hope its on tomorrow. i knew it was on today but it was 6.50 when i remembered it and i knew they said it would be on tomorrow.

Well you could see that Woods was a bit rusty early on, but he came on strong and wore Muriqi down to win the decision. I'd like to see Woods back in the ring sooner rather than later, but i wouldn't want him anywhere near Tavoris Cloud, the american punches too hard , I know Clinton has a very good chin, but i think Cloud is a bit special.

One thing about Woods, he's not offensive, like many from other promoters. He's not pretentious, never pretended to be something he's not. Apart from Tarver bout, you'd call him a thoroughly honest pro that did his best, reinvented himself when he went stale. Most of the time, you knew how good he was, and there were seldom the type of "trick fights" that you see others in.

I mean, how good is Nathan Clever - A levels - Lever - on the right side of Warren/Enzo split - Lever - next Nicky Piper - Leverly? When would we ever know how good he is, he'll probably always just get the right name at the tight time, then stay busy on easy comp.

That's what the game can be all about AB.

Just having self belief (and that should not be a local good lad Yorkshire thing either). The Tarver fight epitomised it (in Clinton's case) and we have seen it many times before with other fighters. Right fight at the right time, seemingly, and fighters not pushing themselves on more when the opportunity presents itself and where they should instinctively know it. Very frustrating as you say.
