Tough call really. Barker is certainly the classier operator of the two, and has probably demonstrated just enough in terms of cumulative power that we can't accuse him of being powder puff, so it would be my first instinct to say that Duddy (who is easier to hit than any top level fighter should be) gets broken down late on. Having said that, Duddy has been in with some tough lads and done well, so I wouldn't rule him out.

I remember watching Darren sparring with Luke Calvert at the gym when both boxers were 11 yrs old (Finchley boxing club) and i always thought that these 2 were going be top quality boxers.

Darren would have too much for Duddy,easily outboxing him over 12 rounds and becoming a world champ.

I think Barker would box the ears of Duddy&beat him easily on points,Ilooking forward to watching him progress over the coming year

Although I don't think there is a chance this fight will ever happen, the thing that worries me about Barker is the time he was stuck on the floor twice by Conroy McIntosh. I just don't think Barker is as good as many people think.

I don't think Barker has enough pop to keep Duddy at bay, I think John will apply too much pressure and eventually wear Barker down.

He did last night when Vanda decided to throw punches.....Round 10!

Against a better offensive fighter Duddy will revert to type.

Cant see why Duddy would even bother with Barker to be honest

Unless of course Henessey can use some of that '£5m' he had for calzaghe to entice Duddy nto the ring

Duddy should jut negotiate a fight with Pavlik. He looked like shit against Rubio. Watching the way he delivered his shots you wouldnt think he was undisputed MW champ. Perhaps he just needed one fight to get the juices flowing. Who knows? Either way Duddy should go that route

I thought Duddy looked pretty classy for a change last night... Until the tenth that is. As soon as Vanda really pressed him he looked very average again.

I love watching Duddy. I think he's got some decent skills and is very exciting - at his level. They'll probably make the fight but he belongs nowhere near Pavlik, even last nights version who struggled to get Rubio out of there.

I think Duddy/Barker is a 50/50 fight at this stage. I'm leaning towards Duddy though because theres still questions remaining about Barkers chin.

Duddy switched off for the last thirty seconds of the fight because he knew he was miles ahead. All night long he was moving and slipping punches - did you not see that bit or the fight against Howe?

you are right - Duddy hasnt anything to lose in a fight against Pavlik. No one expects him to last 3 rounds and he could pick up a massive pay check and then move down to LM with the pressure of the "0" off his back

well he didnt exactly murder Rubio did he? Comprehensively beat - yes, but knock his head off - no.

I dont see Rubio as any more talented in any department then Duddy.

Rubio did cop a severe drawn out beating though didn't he? He was in bad shape at the end. Duddy is easier to hit. If Pavlik's going to walk through guys that aren't proper world class, I hope he keeps busy. May against Duddy doesn't sound too bad.

thats not the point. I dont think that Rubio is in any way better than Duddy - there isnt much between them but I think Duddy edges him in all respects.

My point is Duddy is on a win win against Pavlik - then he can move down to LM with his pockets bulging!

If John Duddy boxes Darren Barker the way he did last night then Duddy will come off second best to Barker. Barker has reach and speed over Duddy and I can't see the Irishman beating Darren from long range with a jab. If Duddy reverts back to type and starts going hook happy and draws Barker into a war, he may have a chance, but he will also open himself up for more facial punishment. Barker on points.

I like Barker and a fight between these two would be close. I would go for Barker though with a 115/113 type win. I feel he has the slicker moves and boxes a lot better with a lot more continuity. Although, it would be a belting fight.

Would definitely like to see Barker more active (I know about the long layoff after his brother's sad death) but defending the Commonwealth against someone like Kasim Ouma would be a good move, or maybe even Walid Smichet. When watching the Duddy scrap I even thought that Vanda would be a good 10 round international opponent for Barker right now.

Except Rubio has better technique and punches much harder than Duddy.
