First time i've seen him, looks a tidy little boxer, good finish.

Should have way to much ambition for Hanna, but will learn a thing or 2 during the fight

Hes a superbantem weight but boxing at featherweight for more bouts hes looking very good at the moment some great sparring we have High hopes for him

Dave Savage was due to challenge Pat Cowdell for the British super-featherweight title in the 1980s but The Board refused to sanction it. Junior will want to go one better.

David Savage Snr Boxed Pat Cowdell and was stopped a have seen the fight unless this was another date :!:

I think Bennie means the board didn't sanction Dave to fight for the British title, but were happy for him to fight Cowdell in a non-title bout.

Nope, it was the same date but originally intended as a British title defence for Cowdell when The Board refused to sanction it.
Savage put up a good enough fight to disprove The suits.

Glasgow's Willie Limond chips into the increasing band of fighters who double (or even treble) as promoters as he tops his own Paisley show on February 27. Limond, who works as a joiner, brings over limited Zambian Godwin Mutampuka for a poor-looking 12-rounder but the underrated Scot struggles for domestic opposition and has lost only to Alex Arthur and Amir Khan in 32 outings (both in eight competitive rounds).
Any opponent will do.
Nice guy Willie showed excellent, all-round ability in those Arthur and Khan defeats, particularly aginst the much-fancied Khan, whom he had on the deck, he claims for much longer than 10 seconds, before he was punished and pulled out on his stool with a perforated eardrum. The memory of Khan's supporters then cheering the premature announcement of a Limond broken jaw is - well, I won't say it. The same 'supporters' later booed their own man out of a ring which - well, does say it.
Anyway, Limond has won both his fights in the 20 months since Khan and still has a couple of good years ahead of him at 30. He once held the Commonwealth lightweight title and challenged bravely for the British super-featherweight title held by Edinburgh's charismatic Arthur back in 2003. Arthur is now coming back at lightweight, so a rematch could be on the cards. Those east-west Scotland showdowns always sell well up there. Craig Docherty is also making his way back and Limond-Docherty would certainly draw in Glasgow.
As for the little-known Mutampuka, he looks too inexperienced at 6-2 (4) and too small as reigning Zambian super-featherweight champion to really handle the dour, determined home man, and a middle-to-late round stoppage for Limond looks on the cards.
This just serves as a ticking over fight, really.

Does anyone remember a guy called Joe Savage? I don't think he's a relative of Dave Savage Jnr, but the surname reminded me of this story.
Joe Savage claimed to be unbeaten in bareknuckle fights with soemthing like 40 KO's, in a bizarre bit of match making he faced Bert Cooper who although was on the downside to his career, was still way to much for a guy to be making his debut in boxing , needless to say big Joe was KO'd in 1 round, and i've not heard of Joe Savage since.

i think savage is a great young fighter and is very big at the weight he boxed a friend of mine jon kays in the amateurs jon won it was a fantastic fight up in scotland would make a great fight in the pro's

Savage Just won the Scottish Bantemweight Title about 2 month before that stepped up to Box Jonny Kays Great Bout 14-9 a think the score was good bout at Airdrie Town Hall it was at 58 Kg the Bout Savage Jnr is about 56 Kg at Most he keeps his weight well a dont think that bout would happin unless savage moved up a few weights but never know would love to see him box Stephen R Russell Paisley or Kris Badger Hughes they where old foes in the amatuers Hughes got a big spread in the paper latley would be a good 1 for the celtic or masters @ superbantem Savage would be to strong for these guys(Hughes Russell) but fights we would like to happin its a good weight at the moment
