This captures my interest. Garcia is moving places FAST - the guy is shit hot property. I saw this before the Boxing News by the way :TU: If he blitzes Michel Gbenga he will make a statement. Is that the same guy that went 12 with Dean Francis? Acosta and Perez are good too and it's a decent step-up for Perez, as Gary Hyde looks to get them some out-of-Cork exposure.

By the way Asterix, did you sit and colour in all the names and stuff?!

Yeah, Garcia is getting a lot of hype at the moment. I really hope he lives up to it. It would be amazing to have such a good boxer in the UK/Ireland.

I don't colour them all in. I created a simple tool that does it for me. It grabs the fighter's info from Boxrec. I just tell it the boxer's URL. Sexy stuff.

I have to say, Marquez vs Diaz is THE fight for me this week. Can't wait.

Unfortunately that admission makes it less impressive :shame: :D

Yes Garcia has all the tools mate, speed, skill and power. He blasted Mantas Tavydas in his last but one fight. I remember sitting and thinking, "christ this guy is really good". The real deal without a doubt.

Asterix, I'm impressed by that list. Just to update you, Tony Jeffries is fighting Belarus' finest Aliaksandr Vayavoda on Friday evening, according to http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528, ... 37,00.html.

He has a record of W5 (KO3), L12 (KO4) and D1 from 18 fights so far

But it looks a good weekend of Boxing. An impressive Friday Fight Night, followed by first ever live Boxing show on Saturday night at the NIA. Plus the interesting Thaxton fight that I'll be sky+-ing on itv4

He's big at the weight (super middle), isn't he? I mean, I saw photos of him next to Perez and I was wondering which was the heavyweight! I'm wondering if he'll end up at light heavyweight before long. 179 lbs last fight.

Not too sure on the weight issue mate but I was finding some old cuttings from interviews with Hyde:

Garcia meanwhile gets a good standard of opposition when he faces off with Lithuania's Mantas Tavydas who boasts a statistically impressive 15-5 (10 KO's) slate. Tarvydas was rumbling along nicely before bumping into recently crowned WBO champion Karoly Balszay in an eliminator for that very title. The 21 year-old held his own early on before Balszay took over and referee Manfred Kuechler called matters off in the tenth after Tavydas tasted the canvas once too often. Since then he has hit a bad patch to say the least, losing his last two by stoppage (making it four consecutive losses in all). So what, you may say – and you'd be justified in doing so! But what makes this a remarkable matchup is the fact that Garcia is just 1-0, participating in only his second pro fight, meeting a man who has completed ten and twelve rounds.

Garcia disposed of inept Martins Kukuls on his debut in three rounds and the talented box-fighter can win a tough one here against the solid but unspectacular Lithuanian.

“Luis had a good write-up in Boxing News and he's definitely an outstanding prospect. I've had Mike the longest of the three so I'm a bit biased and he's probably my favourite, but Luis is something else. I'm trying to get Tomasz Adamek in for him next rather than undefeated people, so he can learn on the job.”

As impressive as Garcia is, he's not ready for WBC cruiserweight champion Tomasz Adamek just yet, but luckily this is a 28 year-old Czech namesake with a 12-1-1 record and a 12 round EU title challenge on his resume. This is the sort of level that Garcia is now finding himself after some stunning displays both in the ring and back in the gym.

My one to watch; Daniel Jacobs :TU:

Imagine Andre Ward, but better. For me, the future of the division.

I've seen him once before. Very, very strong. Massive for a middleweight. I'm looking forward to seeing him step up a notch.

Asterix, nice work, but how long did that take to do out of interest? Nice summary though.

Less than 10 minutes I'd say. I used to do data inputting so I know how to make things easier and faster.
