Amazing record 24 and 0 and every one a KO!!!! He is certainly going to take some beating at super feather. I think there is a problem regarding where he can fight if my memory serves me correctly. He seems to have fought mainly in Japan. I would love to see him fight, he must be exciting to watch with such an exceptional KO record. Anybody got any current info on him?

Yes, definitely a lightweight now. Facing Antonio Pitalua on the 4th of April for the Interim WBC Lightweight Title (Pacman vacated recently). The winner of his fight will be against the winner of Jorge Rodrigo Barrios vs Carlos Hernandez. It's a lightweight tournament by Golden Boy. I like Valero. He's fun to watch and even though his technique looks dodgy he has been very effective so far (obviously). I do think he's going to get knocked out in his first loss, rather than losing by decision. His fight against Vicente Mosquera was a bit worrying in the 3rd round, when he got knocked down.

As far as I know, Valero is still only cleared to fight in Texas inside the US.

Thats a bit rude pal. No it isnt breaking news, but who ever mentions him on here. He has a perfect record in every way so hes interesting. By the way I was a boxing fan before you were born so I dont need some youngster getting funny with me.

I think Arum fancies a Pacman-Valero match up at some point.....and i wouldn't be all that surprised if it is Pacquaio's next fight after Hatton.......Valero will have to maintain his unbeaten record (and ideally his perfect KO ratio) for it to happen.....it is the mystique that creates which will sell the fight

Yes a real heavy handed prospect who should be at his prime by now. He should have been well in the mix but I guess rules are rules even though they vary from one country/jurisdiction to another.

I watched a bit of him sparring with Morales which showed a little more about him than just the banging out style that made his name. I also saw the Mosquero fight which showed to me that he could be backed up. A real strong fighter with a bit of pop IMO would give him a lot problems beyond the space and leverage he needs to let off heavy handed attacks. Real shame that we haven't sseen more from him though.

I think that's because he failed a brain scan years ago after a motorcycle accident and so was refused to fight in a number of states. That's why he went off and based himself in Japan to fight.

Not yet, but they're working on it. Texas is still the only state, from what has been said in the media.

According to his manager, Jose Castillo, the medical issues with the most prominent commissions are being resolved and the fighter is finally going to be able to display his wares on American soil and American television.

I cant believe how hyped Valero is (admittedly I haven’t seen him fight, but from what I’ve heard he’s a wild swinging slugger). His pretty record is among the most padded I’ve seen, he’s stepped up once (and not to the very highest level I might add) and had a hard time yet a lot of people seem to think he’s a threat to the big boys.

It's a hard hard fight, but it shows the best & the worst of him (thanks, Graham Houston!) simultaneously.

His biggest asset other than his strength may be his awkwardness.

Also, his opposition since beating Mosquera has been SN-level bad.

He does remind me of a less refined Pac Man. His chin is up in the air, and his upper body is pretty static and some of his deliveries are wild but at the same time the kid throws fast hurtful bombs, usually in combination.

I think he needs to be a bit smarter against a banger like Pitalua.

I've always been a Valero fan and a fight between him and Pacquiao floats my boat. He carries his powrer late and has no stamina issues as he proved against Vicente Mosquera. Also, I remember a year or two back there was some footage of him boxing on even terms with Erik Morales to show he is not a one-dimensional slugger either.
