I made sure that I filled in the survey on their website to let them know they're doing a good job and to demand more boxing

Agreed Mark. Subscribers are worth about £150 a year to setanta and with the likelihood that they will start losing footy fans in 18 months once they lose the Monday night prem games the last thing they want is to lose their boxing fans.

They have proved to be responsive to requests on the content side, and credit to them. They need to sort the technical issues out though, and (although it doesn't affect me as a sky subscriber) its a shame a lot of the live boving is on setanta 2 which means freeview subscribers miss out.

Great news about Marquez Diaz though, this should be a great fight and the hardcore fans will love it. Creates the usual problem of do I stay up and watch it knowing I have to be up at 10 for footy training followed directly by work.

Like everyone else though I’m a bit worried that with losing the football there may be budget cutbacks that could mean less boxing. Might not make much difference to me, no idea if I’d be able to get Setanta in South Korea but still I’m slowly getting my little brother into boxing thanks to Setanta.

Buncey used to post up on a regular basis, on a site that i previously frequented and gave a full list of what was coming on his show, the boxing hour and then would react to the thoughts of posters and debates would then start around those subjects. Not all boxing websites have access to to a journo or presenter like Buncey and i feel that it is the start of a relationship that is more interactive than has been the case in the past. As you say, Buncey does listen to opinions and part of his show is perhaps geared to the feedback that he gets off posters on the websites.

i visit the setanta website most days (especially the upcoming live boxing page) to read people's comments. i think they might have got overloaded with boxing requests on that survey. it was only on the website for about a day (if that). i dont think that fans of other sports might have seen it. i posted it on eastside (was before i started posting more regularly here) and then chinny posted it here. it found its way onto doghouse as well.

i sent buncey an email (i think during the vic arce fight) asking about fights coming up that were not on tv (marquez v diaz was one of them). he replied within 20 mins saying that they were looking into them. was very impressed. you have to credit setanta the way they communicate with people thru the forums. they find out what their customers are looking for. like i said in another thread people who want to watch live foreign boxing on tv need to have setanta.

the bunce hour is essential viewing each week. i think they view boxing as important. they have it listed after football at the top of its website. i would say that the reaction to their fantasy fight comp bowled them over as well. and the fact bunceys boxing hour is repeated 4 or 5 times shows it is one of the most popular shows on setanta.

one thing i would like though is for them to repeat the full broadcast of a live american card on the sunday. im not talking about calzaghe v jones which was about 7 hours. but the average american bill which runs from 3am till 5.30 or 6. if they could repeat that at some stage on the sunday instead of 3 or 4 hour long versions of the main event. by all means run the hour long versions for the rest of the week after that. unfortunately i have fallen asleep during the odd american show

its important we support setanta. sky seem to have forgotten that america exists. sky might well get hatton v pacman. but if they do it will be their first american show this year whereas by then we will have had 10 or more american shows from setanta. i can remember 4 american shows from sky last year (hatton v malignaggi , mosley v mayorga , de la hoya v pacman and de la hoya v forbes. and 2 of them were pay per view.

another plus point with setanta is you get all the fights with your regular subscription.

if setanta could get the odd bill during the year like marquez v diaz that is not part of their contracts , it would mean we would have live boxing most saturdays. its a pity the lightweight tournament clashes with holt v bradley.

it weird that sky have drop almost all american boxing but there loss is setanta's gain. I like the fact that Sky support small hall stuff but still they need to mix it up.

maybe sky think more people will pay for hatton v pacdman due to being starved of international action.

i like the sky domestic stuff as well (most of the time) but wish they would show the odd bill from the states. its a pity we missed out on the campbell bill a couple of weeks ago. i think setanta are showing holt v bradley so it looks like we will miss out on the lightweight tourney as well.

we cant expect setanta to show every major bill that is on.

i dont think an hour will be long enough this week. buncey will hardly have time to read emails and discuss any other business this week.

I don't subscribe to Setanta myself, I'm of the view that my family pays £50 a month already, so why should we pay extra for Setanta.

But having said that, I do enjoy Bunce's Boxing Hour every week, whether I'm at uni or not and it is top stuff. Major respect for the way it focuses on fights that may not be on the channel when it is really of little benefit for them to have interviews with the likes of Maloney and allegedly etc.

The upcoming Hayemaker shows look pretty good, and the recent influx of the US fights are great for them. Don't really see the benefit of the German shows, unless they happen to feature Arthur Abraham or the Klitschkos but its all good.

Have to disagree with what bigmark says about "we should be grateful for when something like Diaz-Marquez comes off". If I paid the £13 a month for Setanta, I'd ruddy expect it to be shown, and none of the last minute announcements and "will they or won't they show it" they've had the last couple of weeks.

A cynical view would be that having paid that extra money for Setanta there should be US boxing most Saturday nights as a given. They've really gotta step up their game now they've lost half of their Premier League Football and their biggest Boxing draw Joe Calzaghe has retired.

looks like tyson fury interview will be interesting going by this. tyson fury says he's a real heavyweight compared to david haye. article also says barker wants duddy and has quotes from mick hennessey.

i pay over 60 euros for sky. (i guess thats around 50 pounds) mainly for football and boxing. since sky are a bigger company , have more of a budget and more subscibers youd expect them to show more foreign boxing. setanta has a good line up for the price of it. we get to see boxing most saturday nights and their is no pay per view add on. sky just dont seem to care about american fights unless its a real big big fight eg hatton. setanta have taken the bull by the horns and they are showing way more top class action than sky at the moment. setanta are doing a good job and if you want to watch foreign boxing you need them. sky could show foreign bills if they wanted (eg the campbell bill from a couple of weeks ago) that setanta did not pick up. without setanta the boxing line up would be very bare. so what if the marquez v diaz fight was annonced late , its better than sky who dont seem to know the fight is even on.

I'm glad to have Setanta on board they are much better at showing the fights in America than Sky ever have been however there presentation isn't half as good as Sky. I can't stand Steve Bunce on tv he does my head in it's 3 in the morning and he's talking absolute rubbish, last Saturday i had it on mute when they were in the studio and when the fight has finished i see the interview and head to bed. I think his enthusiasm is good but at 3am it's just plain annoying. There are much better people out there to be on the programme.

its normally on late sunday night / early monday morning. was on at 1.50am this past week. i think the time varies each week though

Sky pluss me thinks. I know what I'm like though I'll get up early and watch it before football instead of staying up, at least that way I can skip all the build up and then watch that later.
