New Prediction League for this UK forum

A new prediction league is coming to this UK forum on Boxrec.

Myself and Bigmark ran a successfull prediction league on dogpoundboxing's UK forum, which went down very well with all the posters on that site. It generated good debate, plenty of mickey taking and all in all was a lot of fun. Myself and BigMark have now left dogpoundboxing and have set up home here on the UK section of boxrec and the prediction league on the dogpound site will end this coming weekend.

Since we have joined this site, many posters have been kind enough to comment on the prediction league that we ran over at dogpound and many have asked us about transfering that league over onto this forum. We can now announce that we have been given permission by the mods on this UK forum and there will be a prediction league here from next friday 6th March. This weekend and next week will be devoted to recruitment for the prediction league and ALL of you guys on this forum are welcome to join.

From this weekend there will be two threads that will be "sticky's" at the top of the page. One sets out the rules and scoring system and the other will be the fight list for March, which will go from Friday 6th March to Saturady the 28th March. The closing date to enter the prediction league will be Friday 6th March at 7pm. After that time, the thread will be locked, if we can do that and will be closed untill April's prediction league fight list.

Information on how the league works :

Myself and BigMark set the league up to replicate the football divisions and we have promotions and relegations at the end of every month. At dogpound, we had four seperate divisions, with ten posters in each division and at the end of every month the best three posters in each division got promoted and the three worst posters in each divsion got Relegated. This format proved very popular and we would do exactly the same this times around, but if there were more posters involved, we would have more posters per divison and more promotion and relegation places...

Example :

Fleabag 75
Fletcher 73
Toadfish 68
-------
Senna 65
Beethoven 60
Riley 57
Bombshell 48
-------
Hotpot 37
Dean 34
Quixall 16

The poinst scoring system works as followsa nd you will be able to refer to these in the RULES section

Example - Klitschko vs Gomez (Klitschko wins by a 7th round KO)

13 Points = Correct winner, correct round and correct method of victory (ie TKO, KO,)

7 points = Correct winner, One round out and correct method of victory

5 points = Correct winner, out by two rounds or more, correct method of victory

3 points = Correct winner, not correct method of victory.

-3 points = Incorrect on the winning boxer

In the event of a points decision :

7 points = Correct boxer and correct points magin (UD, SD, MD ect)

5 points = Correct boxer, not correct points margin

All this will be explained in the rules section !!

When you post your prediction - Do it as follows

Example :

You will see the fights set out like this -

Sat 21st March

Vitali Klitschko vs Juan Carlos Gomez
Ricardo Cordoba vs Berrnard Dunne
Roy Jones Jr vs Omar Sheika

So put down your post as follows

Sat 21st March

Klitschko TKO 6th (Or UD, SD, MD or whatever round you think he will win in)
Cordoba UD
Jones Jr K.O 9th

Of course, you may wish to put down Gomez, Dunne or Sheika :D

Any questions then just ask BigMark or myself -

The league results and placings are posted up each week, normally on a sunday, so you can see how you are doing from week to week, alomg with a tally of your overall score. There will be a three monthly prize that is sponsored by Steve Bunce of Setanta Sport and his show, the boxing hour. Last time Steve sent us two signed Joe Calzaghe caps from the fight with Roy Jones Jr and has promised a lot more prozes down the line. Andy Kerr has promised me that he will make sure Buncey delivers :D

This weekend will see the rules posted on a thread at the top of the page, along with March's fight list. All you have to do is read the rules and then post up your predictions, all in one go, on the thread where March's fights are listed. Thanks for reading this, i know it has been a bit long winded.

Thanks very much and please join up !!

Quixall and Bigmark

:D

In years to come the Boxrec Prediction League will be solely known as the 'Chambers' after it was named after me upon my self-imposed predicitng retirement (due to lack of competition). I think it's only fair to prewarn you all that I am a truly Gifted individual.

All over it. Hopefully last longer than the one spud ran :TU:

How you going to work out the divisions?? Just based on the 1st months results? Cause if you want a form guide I was 10th in the one on current scene amongst all the numb nut ameicanos last year :D Which makes me the the equivalent of West Brom in this one.

Would it be possible to list the scheduled distance of each fight please :D

Just don't fancy looking through the database everytime I'm unsure of how long the fight is for :TU:

Something to look forward to but with predictions like Skelton and Thaxton to win, I dont think I will do all that well. I did have Oakey to win prizefighter though.
