Well he starts off with a 1st round win, looked to have a good jab, variety of shots.
I'd like to see some head movement, he seemed to carry it a bit high .
but overall a decent looking performance

out of all the recent amateur turnovers he's the one i have the less expectation over.

maybe a british title at best for this one.

decent start, looked fit and ripped, could do super middle, lack of head movement and drops the left hand when he throws the overhand right, could prove costly as he steps up in class.

It was a good debut from him.

Of course, time will tell how far he will go.

He showed some good ability (as you would expect) against limited oposition. Agree about the chin being carried a bit too high also. But he will learn, I'm sure, against fighters that ask more questions.

I'd be disappointed if I'd travelled down from Sunderland to see a fight as utterly pointless as that. An Olympic Bronze medalist again a mannequin. Debut or not, that was as bad a miss-match as I can remember.

Then either you are new to the game or have a short memory. Lots of mis-matches like that happen in debuts and not not necessarily involving Olympic medallists.

Looks talented and promising. Hasn't had lots of pro training before going with Joe Gallagher so I don't know how long it'll take to develop him. Super middle is going to be a great division. In fact it's already good and it has a future with guys like Jeffries and Sutherland.

I can't think of too many prospects who didn't have a mismatch first bout.

Khan, Hatton, Calzaghe, Tyson, Bruno, McClellan and heaven knows how many others all had first round wins on their pro debuts.

For the record, it's way too early to tell how far he'll go, we'll have a better idea when he's had about 8-12 fights.

As i said earlier its hard to see to much from a debut, alot of boxers rush their work or make basic mistakes because of nerves, but Jeffries looked to be picking his shots ok, and showed decent power. Downside was head to high, and dropping his left hand a bit low.

All stuff to work on in the gym

I thought he was very stiff and robotic. Nice shots, jab was ok, opposition was crap etc but very upright, chin hanging out to dry and not relaxed enough. But it was his debut so will reserve judgement

Exactly, maybe his defense looks a bit questionable but this was an opponent you could take chances with. I agee a few fights down the line and we will have a far better idear of how good he is and what his potential might be.

I thought he looked stiff and robotic too. Didn't have much guile or movement, and as someone said earlier he dropped his left throuwing the right. Good strength and power but against a classier thoughtful fighter he would get exposed quickly on the performance.

Things to work on, but has some good tools.

didnt see the fight but what about tysons furys debut that would take some beating for a mismatch

but his second opponent was a very brave piece of matchmaking eh billy.

Watt kept saying how he looked like a pro, but to me it looked like what it was.....a successful amateur turning pro....he threw some great shots, but i couldn't help but notice how upright he was (as opposed to Sutherland who does look like a pro).......there was plenty to like, but enough to prevent most of us from getting carried away with his prospects
