has anyone got any ideas how swifty got on

Aint boxed yet as far as I know - think he is the swing bout so he will be on after the main event now if he hasnt boxed already..

Steve Gethin is a great servant to the game n I'm telling u Stephen Smith done a better job than any of the young prospects Gethin has been in with.
Smith put Gethin down twice heavy, n cut him to ribbons inside 3 mins.
Shame he got put on after the main event.

Really? Then I'm complaining to the NIA. I was waiting for that bout and got asked to leave by staff who told me that the event was over and there were no more bouts.

Annoying, isn't it! I saw some Liverpool fans on the services on the way back up North, they said they though the fight was pulled too, and they had been told to leave.

Firstly, well done Swifty. Can't wait till you get more limelight ye' really can go far.

Secondly, get a complaint in Whicker i'd be fuming.

i am very very optimistic about swifty's future

Someone came down and told us to leave but as we were pretty sure that the fight would still be going on (mainly due to Mark "Kev" Burdiss and a referee still being ringside) we ever so slowly got up etc until both men were in the ring and we saw the fight.

Literally most of the audience had gone, it was surreal-especially when they turned all the lights out except the ones by the ring during the fight.

I tell you what, I've never heard such quick introductions as there was for that last fight. Kev was going at about 300 mph

they should have point blank refused to leave if they knew the fight was scheduled. I would have done.

problem is no matter how much you know a fighter u can't vouch for what's taking place behind scenes, especially when a boxer is otherwise occupied with preparation and in any case can't take a call with gloves on....so the stewards could have been right....eg, other lad had pulled out, got stuck in traffic, slipped on a bar of soap, failed to make set weight etc.....

I would insist at the very least on a full refund and ask ask them how they might intend to redeem themselves to affected customers for having missed their mate box/ travelling expenses/ potentially accommodation etc...by suggesting maybe freebie.
At the least though, a refund and an apology. It's unacceptably poor organisation.

Wish I had done. I did dawdle for a while, too, before leaving.

Thing is I have been to shows before where "floating" fights have been cancelled. At the Haye Macca show at the O2 there was meant to be a Walsh fight (ironically I think possibly against Gethin) and that WAS pulled- Walsh was even gloved up and ready.

So I assumed this one was too.

There are sometimes council imposed time restrictions that state a show must end at a particular time to avoid disturbing neighbours (although this shouldn't have applied in this case).

Perhaps Boxingchat would like to let us know his thoughts on this mis handling of the situation?

I too was keen to see Swifty fight after seeing him live at the Aston Villa show before Christmas.. Free tickets to the next Birmingham SN show would ease the pain

The first eveer Nynex Show I went to (I think the first ever boxing event there) Benn V Collins I, had several bouts pulled, I think one including Peter Judson in an International title, because they ran out of time/their licence ran out or something.

same happened at brentwood before xmas, last fight was cancelled,
