Thaxton lost by at least 2 rounds.

To be honest I thought Jono may have just nicked it and a draw would have been fair. Thaxton uses up too much energy winding up punches that hit fresh air. Not a controlled defense of his title but a very poor attempt to land the big one throughout the fight. Thaxton would have been stopped had his opponent been a heavier hitter because he was getting through Thaxtons poor defense and landing well. Fair play to the Frenchman he came to fight and he came to win. Where now though for Jono, had he won, a fight with Murray would be the obvious. Dont think Murray will be interested now, he may be looking at the Frenchman, who I am certain he can beat. Poor old Jono, it may be too late for a comeback. The scoring was shit.

I like Thaxton too, a real warrior. I have to say i was watching it biased though and when I thought what had Thaxton actually done I realised he had pretty much plodded round all night and had done very little from round 3-4 onwards. I did have Thaxton maybe winning by one or drawing, but on a re-think I think Mezaache did deserve to nick it, some of those scores were overly harsh though.

Considering the knockdown and point deduction, i had Mazach by one or possibly two rounds....

Mazach deserved to win and i think Thaxton should retire now

I didn't score it round by round to be honest, but I thought that it close because of Thaxton's first round. He got caught far too easily and often for most of the fight. Obviously closer than two of the judges but a fair result IMO.

I had Thaxton winning four at the start and one in the later round which, with the two points deductions made for a 7-7 split or 113-113. I could have argued it a round either way, no more.

Another BIG shock from the weekend (along with the Rogan fight). I had the Frenchman edging the fight. Thaxton showed his class in the postfight interview and he'll come again

With Murray thinking about his future with Hennessy I think the Murray v Thaxton fight should be made now. It will get Murray right up the European ratings if he wins meaning he can realistically look at a shot at the new European champ.

I missed the first three but thought Thaxton was fading from the 5th onwards. He did seem flat. Maybe just a bad night. It was tough for Thaxton but the French fella eecked it with a close decision imo.
