You can think that a boxing world ratings is exactly, but never it is. Look at this example, at random, of may 1971, in the Junior Welterweights (or Super Lightweights or Light Welterweights or ...) and the differences in the "official" ratings:

WORLD BOXING ASSOCIATION

WORLD CHAMPION

Nicolino Locche, Argentina

-1----Bruno Arcari, Italy
-2----Joao Henrique, Brazil
-3----Domingo Barrera Corpas, Spain
-4----Enrique Jana, Argentina
-5----Rene Roque, France
-6----Bunny Grant, Jamaica
-7----Adrian Davis, United States
-8----Lion Furuyama, Japan
-9----Juan Aranda, Argentina
10----Eli Yares, Philippines

WORLD BOXING COUNCIL

WORLD CHAMPION

Bruno Arcari, Italy

-1----Joao Henrique, Brazil
-2----Adolph Pruitt, United States
-3----Eddie Perkins, United States
-4----Bunny Grant, Jamaica
-5----Pedro Adigue, Philippines
-6----Nicolino Locche, Argentina
-7----Enrique Jana, Argentina
-8----Carlos Hernandez, Venezuela
-9----Rene Roque, France
10----Adrian Davis, United States

In that times there weren't the International Boxing Federation or the World Boxing Organization or the near of 30 others "officials organizations" of boxing, but the chaos was playing against boxing. WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO, and all others you thinks, are necessary for boxing? I thinks: no!

:-?

WBA is the absoloute worst.

IMO, boxing would be better off without them all, or at least just have one organization. I'd rather nominate THE RING belt as being the true belt than anything else. And sometimes, that isnt as good a thing either.

Sad, isn't it? Money being the root of all evil rings truer in pugilism than in almost any other sport. What Henry said is just what I (&, I suspect, many others) would like to see.

Every sport has it's cancer.

Boxing...well it needs some serious Chemo.

It seems fine to me; decent fights every week. What more can you ask for?

Rufus wants to make it better by giving sole authority to The Ring to award belts etc.

And someone agreed with him.

Hilarious.

They ought to shoot some of the gimps in here to improve the gene pool.

I have always found it annoyin how people seem to rally around the Ring
as the only and sole pillar of boxing.

I enjoy the magazine, but it is not the absolute authority on boxing. Nor
is it above agenda and corruption.

1977 anyone ?

The WBC came about as a breakaway group of disenchanted WBA people. Then Don King and Sulaiman came along and (in the words of Nicky Santoro)..."we f*cked it all up"

Hi!

I thinks like Henry about the WBA (and all the others)

Ring Magazine is a very good magazine, but their champions are near of the idea of lineal champs,
but, if over 30 "world official boxing organizations" we put now the boxing magazine, poor boxing!!!

The Ring had their scandals, I remember the great trouble of the ratings any years ago

All we love boxing, but anybody love the WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO and others

There must to be only one world organization

Thanks all you for all your opinions! We are tired of this joke associations

Well at least the WBA had the correct name on top.
