Martin Rogan scored an impressive victory over Matt Skelton on saturday night.....

Although Skelton is now 42 years of age, it was impressive because of the fact that Roagn managed to stop Skelton after 11 rounds, something that even world Champion Ruslan Chagaev coud'nt achieve.

Rogan took another big name when he defeated Audley Harrison on points in his last fight before facing Skelton and now is talking about grandiose ambitions to take on David Haye. Being more realistic, Rogan will now be well placed to fight either Danny Williams or Michael Sprott and stake his claim to be the best domestic heavyweight, before moving on to better things and a possible European title challenge.

Rogan is no spring chicken at 37 years of age and only has 13 professional fights under his belt. Taking these facts into account and looking at the performances in his last two fights, how far do you think Rogan can go ? Domestic, European or fringes of the world scene ?

I personally feel that Rogan has reached his potential and may possibly get a European title challenge, but i can't see him winning a European title, nevermind getting to the fringes of the world scene. I also feel that he could lose to either Williams or Sprott and that this latest victory over Skelton should'nt be used as a reliable gauge for future fights. He is just as capable of losing to the likes of Williams, Sprott or skelton again, than he is of winning those fights. To me, It's a 50 - 50 toss of a coin stuff, where Rogan is concerned, as to whether he wins or loses fights against decent calibre opposition and maybe Tyson Fury, even three fights in, could give him a decent challenge........I'm not too impressed

Like you, I think he might have reached his highest point. He's good at proving people wrong, though, so I'm never counting him out.

He could win the European belt, depending on the opponent. I think a World title is asking too much.

World title isn’t much of a possibility but European I could see happening.

I know zip about European heavyweight boxing suffice to say I think some of the Russians will possess too much knowledge and experience for him, he hasn't been at it since he was a kid I don't think.
That said with the decent paydays he's netted recently hopefully he's training almost like a full time fighter now...it would be lovely to see him get a nice big international standard fight. He can handle himself enough to justify it, and a nice payday.
He might not win, but with this fella there's no telling what he might yet do.
He's a breath of fresh air that's for sure.

Get this man a shot at the European title - he deserves it! Heck if he wins that get him an effing world title shot! Hopefully he can bag the Euro title and get some defences/make some money before he packs it in. He's just beaten the current European champ as someone so European title is not beyond him. Don't think he's good enough to beat any of the current world champions but he deserves a go. I think he would give Chageav a tough fight as the Chubby Chugster has looked a bit vunerable of late.

Certainly deserves a crack at the European title at least, in fact maybe a rematch with Skelton for the vacant strap. Perhaps Frank can get him a crack at the WBU world title?

According to the EBU rules, Rogan is now being granted the right to meet the offcial challenger, Dimitrenko, for the vacant belt. Rogan was rated by the EBU before the fight, so he could have fought for it vs Skelton.

This is interesting Freiheit. I thought I read somewhere before the fight that he wasn't in the EBU top 15 or something so it couldn't be fought for the Euro belt, only the Commonwealth. How would Rogan fair against Dimitrenko? He would surely have to travel to Germany if he got the chance.

Rogan was 11 I think. More than likely allegedly wouldn't pay the sanctioning fees and said that if the title was on the line the fees would have to come out of the fighters purses so that's probably why it didn't happen.

Frank has never been too bothered with the European title anyway. Aside from Alex Arthur's run recently I can't remember when he last bothered with the European title.

I'm not sure I've seen Dimitrenko fight. Anyone think Rogan would have a chance? On paper it doesn't look good for him.

Dimetrenko is a mobile and fast handed fighter for a guy his size. He isn't a huge puncher, but he can hurt you with just a few good shots. His chin is questionable however and I think that would give Rogan a chance, but I would highly favor Dimetrenko.

didmitrenko is top ten ...he needs one more big fight....

was protected for a long time....but showed a bit of steel against Krasnici

Rogie could definitely cope at the European level...

The world champion claim he made... I'm not too sure about.
Either of the Klitchskos would be a bad fight for him...

Hopefully he will get a shot at the Euro belt. Can't see Dimitrenko getting involved with the European Belt right now, he is sitting on his rating waiting for a World Title Shot.
Samil Sam would be a great chance for Rogan. SOmetimes comes in out of shape and can be very lazy. Tough as old boots granted but I reckon Rogan could outwork him.

I know one man he shouldn't face...Danny Williams. That man should be allowed to retire!

I would love 2 see him fight Valuev i honestly believe Rogan has what it takes to beat him Valuev is just big and Rogans aggresion would see him win the fight in my eyes

I couldn't rule him out versus Wladimir Klitschko. He'd give it his all, unlike this string of fat half arsed americans Wlads been feeding on, and for that reason i wonder what might unfold.

I know if Tony Tiger Thomson got a title shot Rogan should at least he would actually make a fight of it and give Wlad a bit of trouble

Euro to me seems about the limit but he has surprised us so far and who knows. For me the Klits and Valuev would be far too much but Chags is a possibility. I think Rogan would have to stop him though or lose on points.

According to the 'Belfast Telegraph' Rogan will defend his Commonwealth title on May 9th in Belfast. allegedly hopes to secure a world title fight for him and in the meantime does not rule out a contest against David Haye!
