buster keeton
neil simpson
darron corbett
micky steeds also penciled in to fight so far
looks like it could be explosive

there doing way to many of these now 1st one was exciting but its run its course now

What Ive heard its some Lineup

Mark Prince! I doubt it.

But no, I don't think its run its course. Just needs to be a little less often to maintain the interest.

This is a bit dangerous, with the exception of Steeds - alot of past it fighters.

One a year is great per weight division. It remains a spectacle. Twice a year - Meh.

once every 6 months with good quality fighters woiuld be good

Is that the black chap from down London who was once a world level operator?
If so BN did a good write up on him in Sept 2007, he works with wayward kids and that.....but he's been a long time retired. Tend to agree with Stujones.

As for Prizefighter, it is on too much but Barry Hearn won't care about that, get in, make the money while you can then once people are fed up of it who cares, he's quids in anyway.

One interesting point perhaps somebody could answer. What does Barry Hearn bring to the table that others don't (apart from a good idea)?
To my knowledge all you need to do is rent out the York Hall for a night, ask 8 boxers if they want to earn a few quid (er, I bet that's hard!)...give Sky a call and ask them if they're interested in making a few quid, do a bit of promo, tell people it's the best thing ever and take a nice slice of the profits. I bet I could have done that, someone please tell me if there's a lot more to it??

i may be wrong but im sure he has the rights to it now with the b.b.b.c which means he is the only promoter that can run this event

Obviously mate, well that is like TM (trade mark) he would be a fool not to have them. I am talking about beforehand... for example if me or you had thought of it 2 years ago.
Don't get me wrong for a second - it's a great idea and I take my hat off to him, I wish I could make that kind of cash. All I'm saying is could a none recognisable face have done it? I see no reason why not.
I wonder if he has purchased the international rights (like Big brother type of thing). If he could export the formula he'd make a pile of cash.
Mind you, bit dubious buying the copyright of Prizefighting, it's as old as the hills i.e. not an original idea.

Stop knocking Prizefighter- its live competative boxing, what more do you want? People don't complain that football matches are on too often!

Mark Prince was active int he mid 90s, he was in a good fight on the first Benn-Collins undercard- seems an AGE ago. I remember Prince RAN across from the neutral corner to finish the guy off!

Edit- check it on boxrec- they have that as a 12 round- was it a title fight?

I complain that footballs on too often. It's the ten million adverts about it I don't like and watching allegedly Richard Keys masturbating over Watford versus Port Vale coming up on Tuesday night.

Prince is the guy I think who got beat of Michaelowski (it might not be spelt exactly like that - somewhere around middleweight).

Prizefighter is very competetive you can say that again! And this week's winners ARE.....the losers. Hey it doesn't get any more competetive than that D

Well Maurice Core was the British champion at the time I think, I don't think it was for that title though - it might have been for the Intercontinental title that Prince held. I'm sure his classic with Gale was for that title also.

If so I thought he dedicates himself to helping youngsters these days.

Mark Prince who fought Michaelswecki did suffer this sad loss, whether he is the same Mark Prince rumoured to be in prizefighter - I don't know. I don't know of any other Mark Prince, but he hasn't fought in a decade.

maybe we should get our facts right before we speculate, but if it is the same chap and he hasn't boxed in that long it would stink a bit if you ask me.
Mind you, if he has a licence, has kept fit and is interested, then having boxed at the higher level than any other Prizefighter contestant so far, you'd fancy him to be in with a shout of winning it. That's a lot of ifs though.

Neil Sinclair came within a whisker of boxing in the Welterweight version, and Neil shared a ring for the World Title (WBO I think), flooring his opponent in round one before getting KO'd in the next. I'm not aware of any contestant that has boxed at such a level before. Though a certain Mr Rogan might be about to do it in the reverse order

I think Tony Oakey has acheived as much as Neil Sinclair and Ted Bami was a EBU champion. Sinclair hadn't won such a belt.

Gary Lockett fought for a world title, but his achievments have been pretty poor.

i wasn't aware Oakey had boxed for a world title, nor that Lockett had been in Prizefighter. I think a prime Sinclair knocks a prime Bami out.

i wasn't saying you should get your facts right Stu, I meant any of us. I too expect it will be that Mark Prince, yes the one who suffered the family tragedy.

If Mark Prince has been offered a place, then i dare say that the board would like to see him in a warm up fight first.

He could wallop when in his prime, and was in good fights against Core and Gale, he took a huge step up in class against Michalczewski when challenging for the WBO title, the German was a too good all round for Mark, who showed bravery and and a good chin to last till the 8th.

you have been misinformed, its not mark prince thats boxing,, you might have been confusing him with mark krence who is also not boxing., either way, its none of them 2, OK....

Mark was a great puncher, I filmed most of his fights, he had a great battle with leonzer barber in brighton,, both bashed each other, and had a good following in south London,
I called Mark 'Mr Excitment' , he used to be promoted by Anthoney Gee, happy memories.......

and yeah it was his son that was stabbed a few years ago, has been given help by noel edmunds tv show, to prevent knife crime.
