Hatton plans to heavily outweigh Pacquaio to be P4P

Saw this on another site and thought it was ironic Hatton plans on being a weight class above Pacquaio on fight night AND claims to be fighting for the P4P championship. IMO concentration on size too much over boxing skills could be his downfall. Here it is:
The 30-year-old IBO light-welterweight champion said: "I think my size will make a difference.
"Manny beat Oscar De La Hoya in his last fight but, with all due respect to my friend and promoter, I think anyone could have beaten him that night.
"Oscar got in the ring at 147lbs but I'll be 154. I'll be the biggest fighter Manny has ever faced."
WTF? What the hell is this? Psychological warfare? If Hatton weighs in at 140 lbs, which he will have to without a single lb above. He thinks he's gonna gain 14 lbs (1 stone) by fight time? If I'm not mistaken the official weigh in is only 24 hours between then and fight time, no?
Surely this is madness. Won't he be bloated?

Hatton usually weighs 150-154 on fight night anyway.
And no way did Oscar get into the ring at 147, he had to kill himself to make the weight at the weighin and I bet he put at least half a stone on between the weighin and the fight.

Never believed that either unless he somehow killed himself to make him a legit WW and stayed there, which seems unlikely
I know Hatton usually weighs 150-154, I jus find funny he claims to be fighting to be the P4P best while admitting his biggest advantage is weight, I also think that much draining my hurt him down the stretch. Then again Pacquaio does that himself, coming in at 145 for 130lb fights, I think at 140 he will be a solid 147 and be invigerated from not having to drain so low

MMA fighter Thiago Alves says that he fights at 198-199 despite weighing in at 170 the day before. Has failed for him in the past, he weighed 4 pounds over when he fought Matt Hughes but if he can put on 2 stone in 24-36hours then I don’t see why not.
When Castillo failed to make 135 for his fight with Corrales wasn’t the weigh in put back to fight day and upped to 147?

De La Hoya weighed in at 145 officially and then said himself he could only manage to add an extra 2 pounds by fight time which was part of the problem.

I think alot of this is Hatton trying to get in Pacquaios head. Hattons been talking alot about how huge he is and how much trouble Pacquaio is in over the past few days. I think he's just trying to but a little doubt in Pacquaios mind. Pacquaio is not a little guy anymore and he's a long way from the flyweight he was all those years ago. He weighed 147lb, in the ring, when he fought David Diaz at 135 so he wouldn't be considered a small lightweight. As for Hatton, I thought he weighed 149lb against Malignaggi, not 154. Might be wrong about that though, but I don't see Hatton outweighing Pacquaio by more than 2 or 3 pounds in the ring. I expect Pac to weigh 147 on fight night and Hatton 150.

I'm not sure but Joshua Clottey reportedly weighed 170 against Zab Judah.

Corrrect. Guzman was 144 or 147 versus Soto. I forget which.
Margarito is usuually around 160 in the ring. Although that might be his gloves.
Hopkins was 187 versus Pavlik.

I do like to watch Hatton fight and I hope for him to win everytime. However he is basically admitting that he likes to be the bully and would prefer a lighter fighter to come up to meet him rather than him going up, which clearly doesn't work. Castillo was a good instance of that and now he has Pac-man and after that he is also thinking Marquez. I understand he wants the big fights but he's choosing the lighter ones

I'm undecided about this fight....
I think that Pacquaio fast hands will do a lot of damgage and he will be elusive aswell, but i don't know whether he has the strengh or power to challenge Hatton
Tricky one

Pacquiao put on 12lbs after the weigh in for David Diaz... not quite a stone, but near enough.

Thats was the problem.
DLH weighed in at 145 and only put on 2lbs after - his body shut down on him...GOOD!

search wrote:how exactly do fighters weigh in a stone less. do they just not eat or drink anything for two days before the fight or something? Anybody know?
Thats part of it - they eat very little and drain the body of water, hence the problem with the cerebal fluid surrounding the brain being diminished and causing the brain to crash against the now lacking in protective fluid skull.
The smaller guys are at the most risk.
Is very rare that this happens to the heavyweights because they do not need to drain.
